Had a dream I wasn’t gonna be able to graduate high school or college because I had somehow skipped an entire math class. I didn’t know people actually dreamed that.

Not to say I’m not having fun? I (to my surprise) LOVE throwing the shield around, getting it stuck in guys, cutting through others. Ricochets! I just wish the game was more that stuff than these kinda small arenas that lead to set pieces or cutscenes. It’s just feeling like I barely get my groove.

There’s a mission where you get in a big Doom Guy mech and this is after 3 missions of tutorials. The shield is fun enough but quit with the gimmicks! This is the 3rd to last mission in any other game and here it’s like fourth, it’s a lack of faith in the meat-and-potatoes gameplay.

The worst part of it is that 2016 Doom nailed the amount of story you need in this, and the presentation. You hated the villain, you hated demons, you killed them. You didn’t need named or voiced NPCs and this weird fantasy setting with intrigue. I don’t even know why or how I’m here! Don’t bother!

Wanted something a lot less intensive, so fired up DOOM: THE DARK AGES. This is so weird, modern Doom obsession with telling you how cool Doom Guy is, everyone afraid of you, meanwhile you’re just kinda killing a lot of mooks. It’s also in this baffling fantasy realm I’ve never seen before.

Had a wonderful time with this. A gorgeous game about memory and bad choices and moving forward. Marvelously affecting, melancholy and gorgeous. Teared up multiple times.

Funny after it had such a lock on gaming culture for a whole decade. I didn’t see a thing either.

I’ve been playing the other game that came out with a kid in it, OPUS: PRISM PEAK. It’s a photography game, set in a fantasy world where you have to take photos of animals to help them and you remember them. Linear, but great music and the stories are slowly revealing how they really to the MC.

It’s wild they dumped them! With more online features it’s so perfect! Microsoft wanted them so much they stole it with avatars!

There’s those multiple issues in the 70s that have them referencing the bylaws in a very funny, nitty-gritty Robert’s Rules of Order way. “Can’t have more than 7 members,” “we need to vote on this.” It rules.

Certified Assassin’s Creed sicko here: it’s very funny they canonized that movie as actually happening in the world of the games, with a stupid little email about it.

Yeah, to add on it was a memory trick where you’d put triggers for memories in different “rooms” and visualize yourself walking to it. So like a map would be in your “atlas room” or what have you.
