My new game, Skyline Command, is an endless shmup in the style of early arcades and home consoles. It’s available now for iOS! apps.apple.com/us/app/skyli... #gamedev #indiedev #indiegames #mobilegames

Agreed.

It's Giving Tuesday at the VGHF! We've had an incredible 2025, but we need your help to make sure we can continue doing our charitable work in 2026 and beyond. We just launched our annual Winter Fundraiser campaign, please give if you're able (and share this post!). http://gamehistory.org/donate
Very excited for the forthcoming coverage strategy Jeremy outlines in this. Seems like now’s a great time to start watching his videos, which you absolutely should be doing. Essential insight into game history and 8- and 16-bit game design.
A flyer for Pinball Construction Set, which has a picture of a toolkit filled with pinball machine parts. "BudgeCo announces The Pinball Construction Set, the first entertainment software that has the simplicity and freedom of interaction of a toy. You don't use this program—you play with it. The Pinball Construction Set allows you to build your own video pinball games by providing a library of conventional (and unconventional) pinball pieces and a set of video tools. Use the video hand to put library pieces on the game board-as many as you want, where you want them. Use the polygon tools to make borders and obstacles. Add game logic and scoring rules with the wiring kit. Create hi-res designs and logos using the BudgeCo magnifier and paintbrush. Change gravity, time, elasticity and bumper strength. Load and save designs to/from disk."

We have a flyer for Bill Budge's Pinball Construction Set, "the first software toy," which paved the way for future toy-games like SimCity

This what gets me: Dan doesn’t even understand how to identify or measure weirdness. Suggesting “I hate apples and therefore refuse to eat them” is weirder than “I was 40 the first time I tried mustard, but I was willing to try it, but I only actually did by mistake” is insane. INSANE.
This is a very good video. Thanks for sharing.
A flyer with artwork for Akira. The text reads "Rev up your sales with the return of anime!"
Oh good finally
You all deserve it but no one deserves it more than you.
You guys did a Mad Men! Congratulations on the successful doing a Mad Men!
An underrated aspect of Blue Prince is that it’s basically a chill, go-at-your-own-pace version of Legends of the Hidden Temple.
I love video games.
Had these little rooftops just under the player's range of movement to create a continuous skyline even where there were no obstacles, but it occurred to me people would probably think they'd crash into them anyway, so I took them out.

This week marks fifty-five years since a group of manga fans hijacked a Japan Airlines flight. Yes, you read that right. And here's why that incredibly strange moment is relevant to the political dystopia we're all living through now: blog.pureinventionbook.com/p/the-revolu...
Working on upgrading the spawning system to be less random and include some more thought-out, interesting enemy formations.

I love video games.
I'm finding this post surprisingly inspirational.
