One of the biggest drivers of high housing costs is that a small, highly motivated group of incumbent homeowners block new housing in their neighborhoods and almost no one is organized to push back.
Young people bear the brunt of that imbalance.
Be a housing fan.

Better late than never?
The bill the Senate is voting on right now would reduce US power generation through 2035 by 300GW, raise wholesale & retail power prices, increase household energy costs, reduce national GDP, & kill 100s of 1000s of jobs.
I mean, this isn't "public grocery store" bad, but it's pretty bad!
Good lord I am ready for this awfully derelict corner to become middle housing
Thank YOU for YOUR service!! 🫡
Traveling to Anchorage Alaska for a wedding and inspired by the #nokings protest here
I’m filing a lawsuit against President Trump after he signed illegal resolutions to target California’s clean air policies.
Trump’s all-out assault on California continues, and this time he’s destroying our public health and America’s global competitiveness in the process.
What’s the latest on the university av. modular slow down?
The public cannot afford to build the amount of housing we need.
We need to remove barriers to let the private sector build housing.
Massive amounts of housing is built when barriers to building housing are removed.
Infuriating. This company is straight corruption.
It’s because the feds eliminated the free file option.
More people will need to use their bullshit lobbyist enabled software.
America cannot long remain free, nor first among nations, if it becomes the kind of place where universities are dismantled because they don't align politically with the current head of the government.
It’s shrinking!
Woah. Interesting. Good observation.
Congestion pricing is good!
I interpret that side effect as a feature not a bug
Cruising straight up and out
By this Pam calculation, one pill has to kill more than five people. Math is hard.
Mike Waltz has left the chat.
SF Chronicle headline “pedestrian fatally struck by car in SF SoMa neighborhood” crossed out and replaced with “driver fatally struck pedestrian in SF SoMa neighborhood, one of the most dangerous in the city”
Fixed it for you, @sfchronicle.com. No death deserves to go this undignified, this unanswered for. Holding the victim and loved ones in my heart.
Last week, Montana voted to:
- legalize 6-story apartments on most commercial land
- sharply cut multifamily parking mandates
- limit excess impact fees
- cut condo defect liability
- require equal treatment for manufactured homes
- legalize single-stair buildings up to 6 stories statewide
If the Blue State housing deniers are correct, this will lead to:
-Displacement
-Rising rents
-Drivers circling for parking
-Increased deaths in home fires
I think they are wrong, but we'll probably find out before California adopts any of these policies.
Donald Trump is auctioning off presidential face time to the biggest investors in his personal crypto coin scheme and using the White House for personal profit. Despicable. www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-c...
I’ve been watching this for months with minimal changes. Good to know!
graphic that says "Middle Housing For a More Affordable Berkeley" with illustrations of some houses that actually exist in Berkeley, CA. See if you recognize any of them!

Thank you @jessearreguin.bsky.social for your Yes votes on SB 79 and SB 677, and for your leadership on SB 9. We are proud we endorsed you in November 2024 and we appreciate your bold action to address cost of living issues for California residents.
Good to have #Berkeley leadership that is passionate about bikes! Thanks Igor!
California needs a lot more housing & we should prioritize housing near high-quality transit.
I’m authoring legislation to do just that. SB 79 authorizes denser housing by our highest quality transit. It’ll help transit systems succeed, reduce carbon emissions & create more sustainable communities.
