🖐️ here to say that I read that paper and I don't even like philosophy, so can confirm @lastpositivist.bsky.social is just trying to talk himself down from admitting he writes bangers that reach outside the field

The worst catastrophes of history are caused by men who are malevolent, ignorant, and have exceptional wills.

Don't let up on Signalgate.

The Mueller report cited rampant use of Signal as a means of obstruction of justice.

The entire discussion is fait accompli.

Also guarantee it is how everyone inside this thug WH communicates.

Which means the law is being knowingly & deliberately violated every day.

Excerpt from Rutgers University Senate resolution calling for a Mutual Academic Defense Compact. The excerpt reads:

"BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Rutgers University Senate urges the President of Rutgers University to formally propose and help establish a Mutual Academic Defense Compact (MADC) among all members of the Big Ten Academic Alliance;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, under this compact, all participating institutions shall commit meaningful funding to a shared or distributed defense fund. This fund shall be used to provide immediate and strategic support to any member institution under direct political or legal infringement;"

This exciting resolution from Rutgers University Senate is exactly the kind of model I think higher ed needs: a mutual defense pact of, in this case, Big 10 schools. They call for member institutions to create a joint defense fund and make resources available to any member institution under attack.

Opposition to the SAVE act is focused on the threat to married women's right to vote. But I can't help thinking it was meant to target trans people and just got overenthusiastic.

This weekend, the so-called "Tesla Shield" came out to defend Elon Musk and counter the #TeslaTakedown protests.

Among those taking part:

• MAGA
• Proud Boys
• Armed Militias
• And a guy dressed as Hitler

I wonder what percentage of their motivation in seizing that power in the first place was predicated under the idea that doing so would mean that people have to like them.

Kristi Noem in tight athleisure—white top, drawstring grey pants—in front of a prison cell packed with mostly shirtless men. Noem’s hair cascades out of her navy DHS cap. The men appear to be wearing loose white patient pants. Norm wears a heavy gold-and-silver watch. The men’s arms are at their sides or clasped in front, as if they’ve been told to stand at attention. Noem’s cap is pulled low, so we can’t really see her eyes; instead, her face appears comprised mainly of lips. The men’s heads have been shaved; there’s lighting on Noem but they’re in the murk, hard to distinguish from one another.

I showed my wife, a historian, the Kristi Noem video. She said “holy shit!” It’s a lot. A brief thread on bodies. It begins in the alt text below… 1/

Reading the introduction: this is why I'm always mystified by economists wringing hands over low and falling birthrates. Like, have economists seen the morale??

"This leaves two questions: 1) As the Trump presidency tears along, to what degree do the parties keep their fun dad/serious mom personas, and 2) what does it take to make voters decide they want to go hang out with the other parent?"

Well, now we have a benchmark for what "critical" readings of SFF are, because we are witnessing, in real time, the results of UNcritical readings of SFF
