If you're a writer, wondering why you should bother writing with the world on fire. It feels like it's not important, I need you to understand that it is.
Even if it is just because it keeps you moving forward? Even if it only brings YOU joy, that gives you energy to fight & survive.

Happy birthday, Matthew!
One sentence that describes a core theme of Middle Grade books?
"The world is bigger than you ever knew, and it needs you."
Bursting with excitement to see this announcement from my incredible writer friends, Kate and Nate! Congratulations, you two!
I just discovered that today is National Heather Day, which I've somehow never heard of before, and would say is ridiculous... but it was in fact an amazing Heather day for me, as I got to have the most inspiring planning meeting with my agent, Heather Cashman. ✨
And I was so nervous because it was DANGEROUS! 😂
A black and white cat is held up next to a poster of a similar black and white cat, known as Claude, in which he's posed with his face looking out through a hole in a paper bag.
Back when we chose Claude at the animal shelter, he wasn't what we'd had in mind. It was only after we got him home that we realized why we'd fallen for his little face... we'd been looking at almost the same one for more than 20 years on our old "Claude" poster. So that was where he got his name.
I think you have to be careful where you get your criticism... it should be honest and kind at the same time. If it's rude, I say forget it and don't go back.
Me too! I want to be able to follow many people without missing anything critical from immediate work/life connections. Sounds like making lists is the way to go.
Among the many, many things I have to be thankful for, is a dear writer friend who made my family a pie to brighten up our tough week. It feels like something from a story, and inspires me to also want to bring more storybook energy into the real world. 🥰
Yes! Toby is 14, and we were told he's 3/4 Cav, 1/4 mystery. Thank you for sharing Koda!
Silence, aside from the snoring of furry companions!
Every time I have to step away, I feel like I'm stepping out of a party here. This is the absolute opposite of doomscrolling and I love it.
Small black and white cat on a table next to the book Sky's End, by Marc J Gregson.
On pins and needles as I finish Sky's End by @mjgwrite.bsky.social, and don't want it to be over! Good thing there's a sequel! (Shown here with Mini, my own tiny Hunter.)
Small black and white cat atop books in a bookshelf.
Cute, cute! Would love to join!
Love this idea and would love to join!
Congratulations! It is truly a wonderful experience!
I would be honored to be included if you do a second list, and/or on a dashaholics list! Can I call it dash-a-holics?
Very excited to see my client @nathaliealonso.bsky.social and her #PB Bio on NPR's Best Books of 2024 list!

Thanks for setting this up, @letiziawrites.bsky.social! If you’re in our chapter and aren’t in here, let Christine know!
I don't know, but yes, Kona is the best doggo!
Needed to hear this today!
I am beyond excited to hear that my amazing past critique partner has his trilogy set to come out in 2025! I can't wait to see Rule of Extinction in its final form (and to get to be in the acknowledgments, whee!)
You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.
Yay, congratulations!!
