Catching up on email and now listening to the fab @chloeduckworth.bsky.social on BBC Radio 4 talking about our rubbish!

Wonderful. It’s so important in science to report negative results!
“Urological mayhem!” 😅
I’m also rather delighted to find this book: “Does it fart? The Definitive Field Guide to Animal Flatulence.”
This title conjures up SUCH a mental image 😳
Here’s one … a scholarly paper on penis rings authored by … S. Wang?!
Bored?
Let’s play a game…
1. Go to Google Scholar
2. Search for the rudest or silliest topic you can think of
3. Giggle like a 13 year old at all the serious papers and attempted humorous titles pertaining to said topic
4. Quote post this with your best discovery
I’ve just remembered the time my darling offspring conflated my disability with my doctorate, and told our friends that I have a bad case of “PDHD”…
This is a brilliant listen. Jacqueline McKinley of Wessex Archaeology on today’s episode of The Life Scientific.
She explains things beautifully, in an all-too a rare piece of public exposure for the importance of work in the commercial archaeology sector ☺️

“Let me be very clear…”
Hahaha undoubtedly 😅
Cute doggie with Keir Starmer-esque glasses
It just me or this dog look like Keir Starmer?

We are unlikely to ever find out that one! 😉
Optimist: The cup is half full
Pessimist: The cup is half empty
Archaeologist: Okay, we have half a cup
Just got back from watching it with my 13 year old. Loved it!
Colin Renfrew has passed away. A hugely influential figure in archaeology throughout the 20th and early 21st centuries.
Here are a few photos of him from about 15years ago, when I was working on his Keros Project.
Oooh, I recorded a video on this a few years ago, with @derekpitman.bsky.social and @lawrence-shaw.bsky.social
If you haven't read this important document for UK #archaeology then do, and read the heartbreaking appendix of comments. We shouldn't be here. Share, discuss, engage with CIFA, join a Union.
Ask why we can't have sustainable, prodessional wages within a sector worth £382 billion pounds. 🏺
Meme reading ‘what I ordered on Wish’ with an image of an ancient core-formed glass vessel, and ‘what I got’ … showing my rather wobbly attempt to recreate it.
Meme reads: “Mom, can we have core-formed glass?” “No. There is core-formed glass at home.” “At home…” …followed by an image of my attempt to recreate this ancient technology!
Obviously the ancient examples are somewhat more impressive than mine as they were clearly made by skilled craftspeople who had more experience than me. My students had quite a bit of fun with this and sent me some memes…
Small perfume bottle made of opaque blue glass with trailing decoration in yellow, white and turquoise.
I recently tried my hand at replicating an Ancient Egyptian core-formed glass perfume bottle.
I did this in a tiny handmade bead furnace (something like a pizza oven but even smaller), showing that such processes can be done in structure which leave relatively little archaeological evidence.
She arrived last night … my new motorbike 😍
Orkney … what a lovely name for a dog! 😝
Ssshh Lars, this is Blue Sky we are not doing fights … yet …

Called it! Radio 4 and Observer are both doing this today 😅
I think we need to reclaim the echo chamber!
Can there be one space where nobody is yelling at me? Yes, please.
