When we listen for transference, we listen for the poetry in the patient’s words.

There’s a spillover effect too — any topic the belief touches gets stupefied by the thought-stopping power of faithful ossification

The new neurotransmitter is called “ambient delight.”

I figured out my metric for “stupid.” It’s synonymous with belief. Belief is simply a way of saying there’s a topic I’ve decided to stop thinking about. Therefore, no matter how cognitively capable I may be, I am definitively stupid in relation to any topic I have a belief about.

How to Succeed or Fail as a Psychotherapist A clear, practical guide to mentalizing and its failure modes in psychotherapy.

Before any technique, there is a choice: to understand or to act. The most common failures in therapy happen when we choose to act without first understanding.

Honestly, I don’t understand how the entire idea of “AI security” isn’t just a scare-word to make people advocate for censorship

I’ve been playing with this idea for a couple of days and it’s lovely

Put your desk in the corner and every time you sit down there to write, remind yourself why it isn’t in the middle of the room. Life isn’t a support system for art; it’s the other way around. -Stephen King, On Writing.

Today, I'll simply shovel the snow, not in hopes of walking the path tomorrow, but just to get outside and breathe the cold air today.

Even harder to accept is that it's often our demons that drive the creative impulse. Artistic beauty is a transcendence of self.

As Carl Jung noted, "The purpose of nearly all rebirth rites is to unite the above with the below."

The same qualities that manifest the best of us, missing love, are what create the dark paths. And it is simply re-connection, re-integration, which transmutes the demonic forces back to their angelic origin. The path back to heaven is the loving integration of what has been cast off and disavowed.

I think there is a lot of wisdom here:
The demonic spirit is the exact same substance and essence as the angelic, just disconnected from its context in the whole of universal consciousness.

The angelic personalities of the planets were thought to shine into and through this space, but from Earth we only see their representations filtered through this demonic realm -- and so we are drawn in to temptation, hubris... to imbalance.

I was learning about this topic yesterday from Dr. Justin Sledge youtu.be/I-_rjwyiHQI?...
and became interested in the ancient idea that the realm of demons is the space in low orbit between the earth and moon.

When it gets dark at 4pm, I:

1) Collapse into a viscous blob by 4:30
2) Utter the chant & quaff the dark elixir
3) Emerge as a creature of the night, remaining in a depraved and manic state until the sun rises at 4am
