So yeah, a lot of Icelandic volcanologists consider the Grindavik earthquake swarm and fissure to be be part of the ongoing, 2021-current Fagradalsfjall eruption and magma tunnel complex.

Second, the distance between Fagradalsfjall summit & the current earthquake swarm north of/under the town of Grindavik is 5-7 km, or 3-4 miles.

This is about 1/4 the distance between Hawaii’s Kilauea and the most recent active fissure in the East Rift zone, which is 15 miles away from summit.

Well, first of all, Fagradalsfjall IS erupting, and has been since 2021. Up until now, it’s been considered a safe, “tourist eruption”, which has helping fuel the tourist economy in Grindavik.

Well, the sprained ankle is not exactly pleased with me right now. So maybe it was good to delay.
