Yeah or maybe not fully recovered from that nasty crash

Rankings of today’s TDA stage from PCS
Today’s Tour of the Alps stage has got to be the first time in any professional cycling race when a 19 year old and a 43 year old are both in the top 12. Insane ride by Pozzovivo coming back to racing and Lorenzo Finn also looked super strong
This is what he said yesterday after the stage so I’m not surprised
His team is not invited unfortunately
Giulio Pellizzari is Joao Almeida 2.0
The first victim of Utah’s SB 242 is a road narrowing and crosswalk to give access to Salt Lake City’s newest regional park. It’s a dangerous street where a 6 year old was recently hit by a driver. I hope our GOP legislators feel proud
Did the car make the decision to hit the cyclist?
Because it’s LA and new multifamily housing is seen as pollution whereas car-oriented land uses as normal
Why is a drive thru a conditional use near transit in the second largest city in America? Makes zero sense
7-story TOD → drive-thru, and some developers call it a win.
Costs matter, but why is the easiest thing to permit next to transit in Los Angeles a car-centric use?
All that NOT losing was a little fishy. Glad we’re back to our predictable ways
It depends on where you go and what you’re used to. There are other regions that are slightly cheaper, on average (Umbria, for example), but I don’t know if they are as nice
Trump’s strategy to “fix traffic” is literally “one more lane, bro.” You’d think it’s parody but it’s actually true
And then he said: “If you don’t open the Strait of Hormuz, an entire civilization will die tonight.”
So they opened it.
Then he blockaded it.
So they closed it again.
Now he’s demanding they reopen it… so he can close it again.
Disappointed but not surprised. The university leadership doesn’t understand that more parking isn’t the solution to transportation issues, and that this will affect the already dwindling sustainability efforts
Yeah enforcement must be minimal. As is enforcement of short term rental prohibitions. Although I heard a friend whose neighbor got busted for renting their ADU as an Airbnb
Not all heroes wear capes
What investors might not know (or choose to ignore) is that Salt Lake City has an owner occupancy requirement for ADUs wherein both units cannot be rented out at the same time
This is anecdotal, but I noticed that since we built an ADU, we’re receiving more annoying requests from investors (mail, phone) who want to buy our property. The thought of renting out both the main house and the ADU must be very attractive
Depends on what you're looking for. Food and wine are amazing in Toscana, of course. As are the medieval small towns and rural landscapes. Could even ride some of the Strade Bianche sectors. My favorite part is around Siena and Montalcino
Yes, but I also would like rural residents to stop complaining about cities wasting money and being subsidized. They are the ones receiving subsidies more often than not
Google aerial view of subdivision
The developer must have been a soccer fan:
- Beckenbauer
- Messi
- Pele
- Beckham
- Hamm
Google street view of Messi St, with townhomes
Very random, but Bluffdale, Utah, has a street named after... Lionel Messi?
I feel for these rural communities, but the reality is that rural American is so often subsidized by large metropolitan areas. We can agree or disagree about whether that should continue, but we need to recognize those subsidies exist
Salt Lake City’s NIMBYs managed to halt the construction of mountain bike trails for *five years.* The city is supposed to resume construction this year but funding is limited and I’m not confident we’ll see new trails anytime soon
I know it’s probably hard to calculate, but someone should calculate the excess deaths associated with the second Trump presidency. Defunding mRNA research and other medical research, defunding USAID, ICE’s actions, wars overseas, defunding healthcare and social services… the list goes on
A spin on the now famous @tomflood.bsky.social tagline
“15-minute cities:
I like running into friends.”
Forgot to mention this was all done while riding cargo e-bikes. Proximity and infrastructure really matter
We had a very “Small Lake City” kinda day: took the kids to the park and ran into friends. First unplanned play date. Then went to get gelato and ran into other friends, which led to a second unplanned play date at another park. Love Small Lake
