Ready or not, here comes question 7! #TLSkyChat
Reading Meet & Greet 📚💫 – Like speed dating, but with books! Students grab a book, read any page for 5 minutes, then rotate to “meet” a new one. After 4-5 rounds, they discover what sparks their interest and choose a favorite to read. A fast, fun way to explore new books! 🔥📖 #TLSkyChat
Q5 for tonight’s #TLSkyChat: Protocols aren’t just for research—they can supercharge reading engagement too! 📖✨ What’s a favorite protocol, routine, or strategy you use to spark book talks, share new titles, or get students excited about reading? For more information visit: tlskychat.com
Just one minute until Question 5! #TLSkyChat
Though it is a tried and true strategy- KWL can sometimes not work well with a group if they have so little background knowledge that they are not able to generate questions about a topic. Or the reading is so specific it is not able to answer student’s questions.

Inside-Outside Circle is a fantastic way to get students to share ideas – Two circles of students face each other, discussing a topic before rotating partners. You can provide a new prompt every time students rotate and change partners so students generate a variety of ideas. #TLSkyChat
Q3 for tonight’s #TLSkyChat! Collaboration is a superpower—whether it’s students working together or you teaming up with teachers! 🦸♀️📚 What’s a protocol you’ve used to foster teamwork among students or strengthen co-teaching partnerships in your library? For more information visit: tlskychat.com
Who’s ready for Question 3? #TLSkyChat
The Connect, Challenge, Extend protocol helps students engage with a text without restricting responses. They connect it to prior knowledge, challenge ideas by questioning assumptions, and extend their thinking with new insights promoting discussion and critical thinking.#TLSkyChat
I frequently use the Micro-lab protocol in trainings and with students to spark engaging discussions that deepen understanding rather than promote debate. Its structured format ensures all voices are heard in a comfortable way. As an extension, it works well as a pre-writing activity. #TLSkyChat
