What the world needs right now is a hefty 'copyright tax' levied through international treaties regulating AI model providers, used to provide external scrutiny and protections for rightsholders.

Fees can be avoided if a model provider can prove e2e data ownership provenance.

Apple stores which devices/users install which apps. They have the device IDs. US government could obtain a list of people who installed the app if a court authorized it. Not clear what they mean by having to storing device IDs. Those IDs aren't accessible to Android apps.

Are you trying to imply that the iOS version provides 100% anonymity? I'm quite sure that it doesn't.

Hearing Impairments Are REALLY Profitable. 🫤
Hearing Impairments Are REALLY Profitable. 🫤 YouTube video by Benn Jordan

I got my hearing professionally tested 3 times and 2 of them wrongly diagnosed me with hearing loss to sell me an expensive hearing aid.

This video is about how hearing loss and tinnitus treatment have become impossible to navigate due to a wide range of chicanery.

OCC Notifies Congress of Incident Involving Email System The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today notified Congress of a major information security incident, as required by the Federal Information Security Modernization Act.

It is NOT GREAT(TM) to hear that threat actors were in OCC's network and reading emails for almost two years (timeline from paywalled Bloomberg article citing a memo from OCC to Congress).

It's even worse that OCC needed MSFT to notify them of the incident.

I'm very happy to announce our new Cohere+Reload: Re-enabling High-Resolution Cache Attacks on AMD SEV-SNP was accepted at DIMVA 2025!

In it @snee.la, @gruss.cc and I investigate AMD's ciphertext coherence mechanism and show even low resolution leakage can go a long way.

OpenAI calls DeepSeek 'state-controlled,' calls for bans on 'PRC-produced' models | TechCrunch In a proposal, OpenAI describes DeepSeek as 'state-controlled,' and recommends banning models from it and other PRC-affiliated operations.

My contempt for anyone involved with this drivel knows few limits. Conflating issues and fear mongering because a Chinese company dared to publish an actual open model:

And trying to talk about copyright after training in Libgen.

Hypocrisy, lies, grifting :-(

I just added an honorable mention about Servo to my 'choosing a browser' blog post. I've also substantially revised the part about Firefox in the security section.

Feel free to share your feedback!

Highly-reconfigured Chrome is also acceptable if you're okay with occasionally being lied to by your browser vendor to get you to enable newly added anti-features

I'm currently still using Chrome because I'm too lazy to switch and Brave breaks scroll-to-text links
