We know how important it is and are still fighting for remote accommodations for our member, Rich Quan, as he cares for his father.

It was a busy week with our annual on-site for engineering. We were thrilled to support our Times Guild coworkers in their fight for remote work protections, affordable healthcare and a fair contract yesterday at the @nytimes.com all-company meeting.

So proud of our very own Talha Rahman as he advocated for the importance of unionization in tech on Sunday at the @unionnow.org rally in NYC! Grateful for the support of @sanders.senate.gov , @mayor.nyc.gov and excited to keep pushing for better for our members 🔥💪✊

Yesterday, our members in New York, D.C., Chicago and across the country walked out to demand a fair contract.
We deserve job security. We deserve to know AI won’t be used to replace us. We know that @propublica.org can and must do better.
Oh ! Sorry for the confusion! We’ll change the post language !
Our contract clearly lists caretaking as a justifiable reason for a remote work request, and Rich has proven he is a capable and dedicated employee.

Tell NYT to do the right thing and protect remote work for Rich.
The Grey Lady must be missing her heart. A respected employee asks to work remote while caring for his 96-year old father, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease? Rejected.
If you care about AI protections, this fight is your fight - our fight 💪👏🔥 standing with you all through this.
We're in solidarity with @propublicaguild.org workers in their fight!
We're on strike! Don't visit propublica.org on April 8
We’re on strike today! Support our fight for a fair contract by NOT visiting the @propublica.org website or engaging with ProPublica stories today.
Tell ProPublica’s management you won’t cross the picket line: actionnetwork.org/petitions/te...
Rich is his father’s certified caretaker, and his request to work remote is outlined and protected by our contract. Doesn’t seem like a lot to ask, but management’s response has been icy: back to the office or else.
Tell @nytimes.com to do the right thing.

Heartless actions from @nytimes.com management are stopping our coworker from caring for his 96-year-old father, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.
Eid Mubarak from The Times Tech Guild to you!
This is a mandate. ProPublica workers are ready for a fair contract now.
A graphic reads “92% of participating ProPublica Guild members voted YES to authorize our bargaining committee to call for a strike.” The “92%” is very large. A ProPublica Guild logo is under the text.
1/ Today, we overwhelmingly voted to authorize a STRIKE as we fight for a fair contract with @propublica.org.
“We need guardrails against AI right now.” Our unit is ready to strike as we fight for a fair contract that includes job security, AI protections and fair wages. To help our members make ends meet, donate to our strike fund: www.gofundme.com/f/support-pr...

ICYMI: Here's a video from just after @propublicaguild.org's practice picket. Last night the unit took a strike authorization vote and 92% voted yes.
Truly awful behavior by @nytimes.com management. We encourage all of you to sign the petition actionnetwork.org/petitions/te...
Rich Quan worked remotely as a caregiver for 6 years, but is now being told to abandon his 96-year-old father, who is in an advanced stage of Alzheimer’s Disease, for…office culture?
This is corporate sadism disguised as policy. SHAME on @nytimes.com 👎
Tell NYT to do the right thing and give Rich the remote accommodation he needs: actionnetwork.org/petitions/te...
Rich is a skilled engineer and has successfully been working remotely for over six years, but despite the fact that our contract protects remote requests for this exact type of caregiving situation, the company is demanding he return to the office, leaving his father without essential care.
The State of The Times: Heartless. Red banner with NYT Tech Guild logo
Today, NYT celebrates their successes from the past year, but we are witnessing a major failure of leadership: @nytimes.com mgmt is denying one of our members, Rich Quan, permission to continue working remote, even as a certified caregiver for his 96-year-old father, who suffers from Alzheimer's.
Lastly, don’t get it twisted, it is still #NoContractNoCoffee out here.
@sbworkersunited.org is still fighting for dignity and wages nationwide, but particularly in LA for fair hours and scheduling alongside @cafastfoodunion.org.
We are hosting a virtual rally this Friday, 2/27 at 12pm ET on Zoom. Join us to hear from our speakers and support the re-instatement of unit members who Kickstarter retaliated against, 3 months after our historic 42-day remote strike won our latest contract bit.ly/ksrurally

AFL-CIO Mourns Killing of Minneapolis Union Member, Reiterates Calls for ICE to Leave Minnesota: The AFL-CIO mourns the senseless killing of another Minneapolis resident by federal agents. Alex Jeffrey Pretti was a VA intensive care unit nurse and a member of AFGE Local 3669—a brother in our union family. Our thoughts are with Alex’s loved ones, his union siblings, and the people of Minneapolis at this devastating time. As tens of thousands of Minnesotans made clear peacefully and powerfully yesterday, the Trump administration’s horrific operation—and their actions aimed at stoking violence and chaos—must end. America’s unions join the call for ICE to immediately leave Minnesota before anyone else is hurt or killed. We demand local authorities conduct a full, transparent investigation that will lead to accountability for this tragic and violent act, and for Congress to use its power to hold ICE accountable.
America’s unions mourn the senseless killing by federal agents of our AFGE Local 3669 union brother and VA nurse Alex Jeffrey Pretti.
We reiterate our call for ICE to immediately leave Minnesota before anyone else is hurt or killed.
