W.E.B. Du Bois on Robert E. Lee:
“Either he knew what slavery meant when he helped maim and murder thousands in its defense, or he did not. If he did not he was a fool. If he did, Robert Lee was a traitor and a rebel–not indeed to his country, but to humanity and humanity’s God.”
Remember
And yet, she knew this and still voted for him.
Oh for the good old days when every editorial board in America LOUDLY demanded the Clintons shut down their charitable organization for fear it would be used to curry favor w/Hillary if she became President 🙃
The Republican budget would strip health care from thousands of North Carolinians. If passed, it would harm our people and permanently shut down rural hospitals.
How bad is the Republican budget? 1.4 million North Carolinians, including children and the elderly, will struggle with food access.
And that's just one part of their plan. I'm proud to have voted no, and I will never vote for their cuts to nutrition assistance.
ACTIONS MEET CONSEQUENCES…
North Carolina voted for Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024—now he’s denying the state’s FEMA request. Again.
Reminder: Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) and Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) voted against FEMA funding on September 25, 2024.
AOC: When you wake up in the morning, you will realize that you voted to defund planned parenthood and take away health care from 13.7 million Americans and when this country wakes up there will be consequences to pay for this
The GOP Tax Scheme represents the largest wealth transfer from the poor to the rich in American history.
I still think it’s backwards that mass shooters owning assault weapons is considered a right while their victims’ healthcare is considered a privilege.

What can I say?

Many nurses have advanced degrees. They are clinicians, researchers and educators. Can’t equate library ‘staff’ with nurses.

Original 1925 jacket cover of The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby Here is a novel, glamorous, ironical, compassionate a marvellous fusion into unity of the curious incongruities of the life of the period which reveals a hero like no other one who could live at no other time and in no other place. But he will live as a character, we surmise, as long as the memory of any reader lasts. "There was something gorgeous about him, some heightened sensitivity to the promises of life. .. It was an extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness such as I have never found in any other person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again?" It is the story of this Jay Gatsby who came so mysteriously to West Egg, of his sumptuous er-tertainments, and of his love for Daisy Buchanan a story that ranges from pure lyrical beauty to sheer brutal realism, and is infused with a sense of the strangeness of human circumstance in a heedless universe. It is a magical, living book, blended of irony, romance, and mysticism. CHARLES SCRIBNER'S SONS The GREAT GATSBY FITZGERALD
They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.
-FS Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, published 4/10/1925.
Neguse demolishes Arrington's hypocrisy: "When the stock market dropped 1k points years ago, you rushed to bemoan Biden's actions. You condemned it. Now the market drops 1k points every day for the last week and you claim it's the economy running well. Do you understand why that's a tough argument?"
