Coalition commits extraordinary about-face on 'end' to work from home A Coalition promise to send public servants back to the office has been jettisoned, and plans to cut 41,000 Commonwealth jobs walked back significantly, in a mid-campaign backflip.

A humiliating backdown on an ideologically driven policy that would have hurt services, ppl working from home & pushed the ACT into recession.

I'll keep fighting against public service cuts but have no confidence Coalition won't keep attacking Canberra.

Yes! This time it was pretty obvious the judges were in one location only and everyone had to go to them to audition!

Tweet from Scott Jennings, saying "um, yes, that's really a problem," with a quoted image saying "The problem with left-leaning media is they're intrinsically more strict with their propaganda to only using verifiable sources so it's really hard to poke holes in their ideology and arguments in comparison to a lot of low quality right-wing content. That makes attacking their points with fact checkers not very effective unless the fact checkers use misinformation tactics as well. In essence, people on the right have to work harder and more creatively to push their agendas as statistics and studies frustratingly aren't usually on our side."

This is why they're attacking science and education: if you can only win with disinformation, data become a threat.

Goran
World - yesterday

As someone who grew up under an authoritarian regime, I can offer one crucial piece of advice: time is everything. If you don’t stand up now—if you don’t protest, resist, disrupt, and refuse to comply—you may lose your country forever. Authoritarianism thrives on silence, hesitation, and fear. The longer people wait, the more entrenched the regime becomes, making resistance exponentially harder. Every moment of inaction is a moment the regime uses to tighten its grip. History has shown that those who act early have the best chance of reclaiming their freedom. The time to fight back is now.

I haven’t watched #AustralianIdol in a long time… anyone else notice that they’re presenting each night as a different day of filming (“day 3!” “day 5!”) but the judges are wearing the same clothes each time? 🤪

I asked my Instagram followers what they want to do next with social media. Interesting that ~70% want off Meta, but most don’t know where to go next…

Why is my t-shirt more offensive to our prime minister than a 50-year assault on democracy? The boy who lived in public housing comes to die on a corporately owned hill.

Grace Tame - what a queen. Great read:

It’s politicians and fossil fuel execs we need to be chasing with our pitch forks - not your friend or family member who finds ChatGPT easier to use and more reassuring than Google search.

Let’s keep the blame where the power is.

It’s the same as blaming consumers of a product for not properly recycling the packaging, when the packaging can’t be recycled in curb side rubbish. Consumers can do more. But we are each a drop in the ocean against the systems that do us harm. We don’t have the power alone to stop climate change.

I am all for reducing one’s energy consumption and overall environmental footprint.

However let’s also not forget that the responsibility for enacting meaningful change to limit climate catastrophe must sit with those in power and those who are primarily responsible for fossil fuels usage.

Seeing a lot of people venting their frustration over use of AI like ChatGPT, because it uses significantly more energy and water than traditional search engines. Especially in the wake of the California fires, which is making many of us feel a bit helpless in the face of climate change…
