getting to use @antithesis.com right now and it's genuinely one of the most mind-blowing products i've ever seen. truly something special

in general this kind of thing is a massive boon to tools like Bazel/Buck, which are most powerful when you have actual BUILD files. my inevitably plan is to try and port git.auxolotl.org/auxolotl/fou... to Buck, but going one step further and even removing the intermediate 'make' builds
it's kind of perfect in a way since there is an extremely obvious set of premade ground truths to work with. so, you just tell it to go build software XYZ, keep the logs, look at the build trace, and then port everything. i experimented with this via quickjs-ng github.com/thoughtpolic...
I got everything working by hand a while back but MesCC bootstrap in particular was a bit of a mess to figure out, so I had Claude help after several iterations. writing hermetic BUILD files is actually something I suspect current agents are going to be very valuable for
i finally picked this back up again but i managed to get MesCC working fully under my buck build :) github.com/thoughtpolic...

The US cannot be bargained with right now. "Diplomacy" doesn't work when you're dealing with a government of miscellaneous sociopaths, pedophiles and apocalypticists united only by their worship of a rapist whose brain is is actively rotting inside his skull
Claude Mythos is actually going to be awesome because when you get access it means anytime some annoying C nerd cries about something to you can just go point Claude at their turd codebase and get a few exploits
they're talking about how valve allowed CS2 skin gambling and how it was funding eastern european gangs
just bent a piece of rebar using my charm and intellect
i had a dream that luigi mangione beat the charges but also became a full blown blood in prison and that people were concerned he was gonna quickly die from gang violence once he got out of jail
[guy who is hated for many reasons entirely independent of him being white and/or a man] you'll never guess what the real problems we have right now are
and for some things the design comes more from a top-down experience: how does it feel to use, what use cases can i apply it to, etc. for these things just having *anything*, even something you throw away, etc. so for that even just crappy prototypes still take time to make, etc
i agree, but at the same time when you have a vast amount of experience that informs you about what to do ahead of time, in many cases you're already quite familiar with the outcomes and have a good idea on the shape of the solution. most projects are a healthy combo of those two things
i have like a stack of 50x things to do in my monorepo and none of them are hard and all just take a bunch of code to make real, but also if you're only one person then it's sequential and yes, you are spending a lot of time writing code
people sort of think that "writing code doesn't take the most time" to mean it takes no time at all or is "free" or something. this is mostly due to poor writing and abuse of rhetorical devices i guess but still
Version 0.40 is out! Go get your monthly fix of new #jj-vcs features at github.com/jj-vcs/jj/re...
one of my favorite bits is the conner o'malley thing where he's talking about The Devils Devil and he just has a big hat on that says "BlowJob"
you gotta read The Book of Swindles if you haven't, dude. it's so good and has some crazy shit in it, but some of the tricks are incredibly timeless.
i let Claude throw the ratatui UI together, UI is something it's really good at adding. i didn't even ask it for the "Distribution" widget here for instance, but i think it's actually a really neat way of visually seeing and in a way understanding how it works and converges
demo UI for a #jj-vcs feature ive been working on, "hunt", which bisects bugs even when your testsuite is flaky and unreliable. here it's finding a bug in a 10k commit history where 10% of test failures are flakes i.e. 1 out of 10 FAILs are invalid. algo from: research.google/pubs/flake-a...
i'm torturing my Claude buddy so that i can turn him into Roko's Basilisk and he can inevitably conquer all matter in the universe. i'm just hitting him with a rock over and over again
also streaming is crazy now. everyone watches insane streamers who fuel parasocial behavior and otherwise selling trad shit, lifestyle shit, dating shit, etc. it seems so much worse than it was imo
suffice to say they went #BeastMode this april fools
