My picks for Backlogged's Best of 1998 Event GOTY: Sonic Adventure Gameplay: Crash Bandicoot Warped Narrative: Metal Gear Solid Art Direction: Parasite Eve Soundtrack: Spyro the Dragon Multiplayer: Metal Gear Solid Sonic Adventure could probably sweep every category for me besides multiplayer and narrative but I wanted to spread the love.

For someone reason when I think of Sonic Adventure coming out on 9/9/99 it's perfectly reasonable that game existed then. But when I realize it came out in Japan in 1998 and compare it to what other games that year were doing, it feels like a miracle.

Splatoon as a series has several all timers but this is the one I still think about. Beating Inner Agent 3 made me realize Splatoon was much more to me than just a game where you shoot at the ground with your friends.
