Lynch telling it like it is. Viewers and readers often think they know how long something should be. The length is what the length is. Even bad stuff. Lots of reason to critique bad stuff. But, "It could've been shorter" is just not a critique. It's a projection. www.instagram.com/reel/DSQDrAt...

Reading Ideas as Information: Sketches of a Theoretical Framework People have trouble capturing ideas, because ideas are inherently slippery. Seeing ideas as actional information, roots ideas in the writing and thinking people are actively working on.

A snippet of some of the more theoretically-forward writing I'm working on these days.... writing.bobdoto.computer/reading-idea...

Nah. The mystic abandons the institutional forms of Christ, Scripture, and Church in order to experience each unencumbered.

This is fundamental and key, imo, with regards to capturing ideas in a zettelkasten even when you can't express or even comprehend them completely. It's Luhmann's "septic tank" idea. The value of an idea comes later, in relationship to other ideas.

Look, all I'm saying is, in this age when they're stuffing hallucination engines into everything, it's time to start, or revive, your hipster PDAs and ZettelkΓ€sten.

Timely and on point. When I get responses on Reddit that "post-structuralism and anything that came from it is *poison*", (like I did a month ago), Malabou's words ring in my ear. (listen to the first ten min if nothing else).

Looking for alternatives to Amazon for selling the digital format of A System for Writing. I'm only aware of Gumroad. Anyone have suggestions? Especially grateful if you've used the service for selling ebooks yourself and can speak to its ease of set-up.

One of the many problems with equating reading with "mining" (as in "mining books for knowledge," etc.) is that it equates ideas with rocks.

Congratulations! Also, for what it's worth, it seems to me like you're one of the most active writers I know around here. Not sure how the "slowly" fits into the equation.

Whoa. I haven't heard about Writing Down the Bones in forever. I've never read it, but I feel like it was making the rounds among my somatic psychotherapy friends (and ex).
