Postdoc position in Oceanography and Paleoclimatology at the University of Oxford - shorturl.at/yTblW
The role involves exploring the role of ocean circulation in setting and responding to equator-pole temperature gradients over the Phanerozoic.
Deadline is 17 April 2026.
As @triptychphrases.bsky.social showed, these summer temperatures on the California margin can have important implications for summer precipitation (extremes) in the south/west US iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1...
Applications are now open for the Agnese Haury Visiting Scholar & Trainee Fellowships at the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research - more information here: ltrr.arizona.edu/fellowships

Really excited to see this paper out!! Led by @vtcoop.bsky.social we show that if you use cold and warm paleoclimates together, you can reduce uncertainty in Earth's climate sensitivity by quantifying the pattern effect and more precisely constrain future climate change www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
The deadline for graduate student applications for paleoCAMP 2026 (Paleoclimate Training in Climate Archives, Models, and Proxies) summer school is this Friday, January 9th! paleoCAMP is completely free for all students selected to attend paleoclimate.camp/apply
Excited to share our new paper (w/ @aakashsane.bsky.social @baylorfk.bsky.social) where we used the CESM-LME and information theory to understand Pacific decadal variability! 🌊

Excited for this paper to be out! With the collaboration of met services from Central America, we evaluate in detail the biases in gridded products that arise from the underlying station data, and the effect this has on the apparent emergence of regional drying trends. Thanks to all the co-authors!
Exciting news! Student applications for paleoCAMP 2026 are open! Are you a graduate student working on any aspect of past climates or environments? Apply to be part of our 2-week summer school in the eastern Sierra Nevada! More details here: paleoclimate.camp/apply
Coupling biological models and our Community Earth System Model (CESM) helps scientists to better understand ecosystems, especially those in Antarctica!

🌊 In 2012, CGD’s Aixue Hu showed how closing the Bering Strait in models affects Atlantic currents. Today, Science revisits this idea, asking if a giant dam could help keep Europe warm. Why it matters: ocean gateways, tipping points & bold ideas all collide. 🔗 lnkd.in/gS_sHikw

With Rice University, a new project called the SCI-SWIM will help our Community Earth System Model trace where water comes from by focusing on stable water isotopes that give clues to the origins of water, from ice sheets to the ocean and everything in between.
