Great to do the famous wild daffodil walk in the North York Moors, Northern England. Some still bare trees look stunning in the sunlight - but dead or alive? One opens the Schrodinger box in late spring to find out!

A bank holiday in Ireland today to mark St Bridget's Day, which was last Sunday. Well done progressive Ireland to gender equalise with St Patrick's Day! Heading for Dublin soon!
Trump is a bully and deeply undemocratic and such a hypocrite. The future of Greenland is up to the Greenlanders and Denmark. Most people in the US should be ashamed over his attitude, but maybe not?
I wish you all a Happy Christmas and look forward to a New Year of much needed peace around the World. By the end of Boxing Day, the old Victorian schoolhouse will be full of family and warm - no expense spared to heat the thick stone walls! (sorry about the planet!). Best wishes to all doc brown.
In Brazil, many young people won't drink alcohol because of fear of fake drinks containing toxic methanol and ruins their social lives. BUT, why do we rely on alcohol to enjoy a good social life? For medical reasons I don't drink, my family drink very little if at all, but enjoy a good social life.
The internet e.g. google AI says 3-ethyl-2-methylpentane has a chiral centre and can form R/S isomers, I say NOT, who is correct?
๐จ The Treasury is threatening our national parks. Dartmoor, the Lake District & wild places could be bulldozed for development. Once gone, they're gone for ever. Join me and sign now to protect them: 38d.gs/rezg
80th birthday today, www.docbrown.info/page06/isome... so finally finished an analysis of isomers of C4H8O2, identifying at least 102 constitutional isomers and 154 stereoisomers, enjoyed the exercise, and the reast of the day with cake and friends
Apologies, something went wrong with C3H6O2 isomers image. It just shows 1-7, typical of what pre-university students should, but lots more isomers in reality!
Intellectual exercise, worked out as many isomers as possible (actual/theoretical) of formula C3H6O2 www.docbrown.info/page06/isome... >=33, very satisfying, x-ref errors on internet (particularly as I'm 80 in a week's time), corrected co-pilot & gemini lately, thanks & apology! You'll love C4H8O2!

Detailed re-editing page on isomers of C2H4O at docbrown.info/page06/isome... and also selected isomers of C2H4O2 at docbrown.info/page06/isome... , as ever enjoy!
www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... What a stupid ignorant US admin Trump is leading, such 'anti-science' moves is quite ignorant in the 21st century, these US guv organisations are/were? some of the best inthe world.
Well now, no bird feeding today! It isn't just squirells that cause problems !!!
Soon off to Ireland again and a taste ofwhat is to come - the loop walk of Inishnee, 6 km and well waymarked, beautiful from start to finish. www.docbrown.info/docspics/iri...
Major re-editing of permanent dipole - permanent dipole intermolecular bonding www.docbrown.info/page07/equil... lots of examples, but omitted hydrogen bonding - this is being covered in great detail on another page.
Updated version of detailed notes on instantaneous dipole - induced dipole forces contribution to intermolecular bonding (London dispersion forces) www.docbrown.info/page07/equil... lots of different examples with diagrams, as well as mpts, bpts, delta H state changes, included viscosity.
An introduction to intermolecular bonding and Van der Waals forces, also discussed dipole moments, polarizability and electronegativity and polar bonds .
www.docbrown.info/page07/equil...
New index of all my notes on intermolecular bonding, but 3 pages still undergoing major re-editing.
www.docbrown.info/page07/equil...
Updated notes on vapor pressure www.docbrown.info/page07/equil... Despite its importance seems to have been downgraded by UK A level specifications.
www.gov.scot/publications... lack of uptake of secondary science teachers in Scotland, nothing changes in the 21st century! Probably the same in England?
A useful climate change project bbc.co.uk/news/science... because seaweed is a useful raw material BUT bbc.co.uk/news/article... is another stupid project that 'costs the earth' and will not affect CO2 levels to any great extent - what are government advisors thinking? Your thoughts?

I know your not a scientist but what do you think of some of these climate change projects? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... is another stupid project that 'costs the earth' and won't affect CO2 levels to any great extent - what are government advisors thinking? Money better better invested in people!

Analysed >50 molecules/ions using VSEPR theory www.docbrown.info/page06/molec... enjoy, feedback from you or your students, both + or - is very welcome, now time to follow the European football tonight. Last night Liverpool got away with the biggest robbery since the UK Great Train robbery in 1963.
I feel better for those delta H re-edits re-edits and note that King Charles III welcomed President Zelenskyy who was not required to wear a suit. I should point out that throughout most of World War II Winston Churchill was often dressed in a plain 'military service' uniform.
also re-edited page on how to calculate enthalpy of reaction using a Hess's Law cycle and bond enthalpies docbrown.info/page07/delta... and show how to apply corrections using enthalpies of evaporation/condensation to get results close to official accurate bomb calorimer values.
