A bare-bones implementation of the ink for a "database" style game. A bare-bones implementation of the ink for a "database" style game. - database_game.ink

Inspired by william-rous.itch.io/type-help, I wanted to see how you'd put together a "database-style" game in ink: turns out, it's very straightforward to get it up and running!

The following gist is all the ink you need to get it up and running.

“Digital Pasts and Futures: Internet Histories, Digital Interculturality and Reimagining Digitality”

Call-for-Papers: The Fourth ReDICo (Researching Digital Interculturality Co-operatively) Conference
Online, 23-24 June 2025

In this conference we would like to bring together scholars who engage with internet histories, digital futures and digital interculturality so as to initiate a discussion regarding the reimagining of digitality, not least its relationship to interculturality. We are, thus, interested in wide and interdisciplinary approaches that go beyond the presentism that often marks media and communication studies, while also engaging with alternative visions of how digitality can be construed, not least from an intercultural perspective.

For more details see: https://hub.redico.eu/call-for-papers/111/digital-pasts-and-futures-internet-histories-digital-interculturality-and-reimagining-digitality-conference-online-23-24-june-2025

Please send an abstract (250 words) of your intended paper to: redico@uni-jena.de by 28 February 2025. It is intended that a selection of the papers presented will be published following a peer review process in book form, funding pending, with the transcript Publishing House in the Series “Studies in Digital Interculturality”. The conference is without fees, completely online and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF).

Keynote speakers that have already been confirmed include Prof. Valérie Schafer (University of Luxembourg), Associate Prof. Helle Strandgaard Jensen (Aarhus University), Prof. Ethan Zuckerman (University of Massachusetts, Amherst) and Prof. Ramesh Srinivasan (University of California, Los Angeles).

Bloodborne PSX: Recreating Bloodborne as a PlayStation One Game | Noclip YouTube video by Noclip - Video Game Documentaries

I'm livid & frustrated that Bloodborne PSX has been DMCA'd. When I started @noclipvideo.bsky.social the idea was to preserve stories because the games or creators may not be available in the future. I didn't expect our one first so soon. So sorry @b0tster.yeag.gay.

The Early Days of Canadian Video Game History (1950-1992) YouTube video by Canadian Game Awards

The Canadian Game Awards just posted this cool little video about some early examples (50s and 80s) of Canadian game dev history. Definitely going to try and look up more info/ footage of these games for future research projects.

The Gamergator rhetoric of historical accuracy has come back to bite Kingdom Come on the arse Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 isn't out until next month, but some would-be players are already mad about its apparent representation of history.

This is a splendid piece of writing by @edwinet.bsky.social. He really is one of the best at this.

In Japan there's a set of books of in-depth interviews with game devs: Game Maestros. They had an _incredible_ set of interviewees.

Very little is online, and even less translated. I asked @historyofhyrule.bsky.social to help track them down, which she did, and she's even scanned them!
