It is perhaps the physical amorphousness of dragons that appeals to me; It gives me freedom to explore a variety of designs.

Incredibly broad, I know, but it is a useful definition in pushing a design into or away from draconic territory. It’s amazing how simply elongating a form and adding scales can instantly make most designs draconic.

I typically define a dragon as a chimeric creature with a serpent-like quality (chimeric here meaning the combination of familiar traits into an unfamiliar form, regardless of how smoothly integrated said features are.)

I’m less interested in the “☝️🤓Erm actually that’s technically a wyvern” argument and more what makes a design feel like it might be categorized as a dragon in the first place. Why does one design feel like a dragon and another less so? How can I make a design feel more draconic?
