"Authors and publishing don't owe us nothing."

And that's why the book suck now and authors don't know professional finesse.

You're literally the consumer. You have the most power under capitalism. I want us to bffr.

Exactly this!

Got on threads. Saw the commotion. Put the author's name on the mute list. Saw people saying they gonna be mean to the girl. And I left.

Don't got it today.

Threads book space is an echo chamber. It's tiktok in words. Don't have time for it.

Just submitted for an editorial fellowship. 🀞🏼

Very nervous but excited with this pivot.

Open to hearing people's thoughts on pivoting into editing.

Now I have started this one. It releases in June. Got an early copy through Aardvark book club. I'm only a chapter in. I'm intrigued but a little hesitant. I've heard mixed reviews. I'll keep yall updated.

Me DNFing two March reads throws off my HRCYED challenge.

I will be calling the library tomorrow to circulate some books to my closest branch that will satisfy both March & December hopefully.

Started this yesterday.
Dnfed today.
Sadly, I just didn't care what was going on. I wasn't pulled in.
Another anticipated for the year being DNFed. I enjoyed Love Like a Sun but not this. πŸ˜”

Update. I DNFed at 25%. This is objectively a 4 or 5 πŸ’« read. Well written. The social commentary is there. But I could not with the MC. Too busy judging to pay attention. I cannot be in their mind too long. Sad because this was an anticipated read for the year. I would still recommend this book.

Remember Fort Pillow

Remember Fort Pillow

Today we dont remember it. But it was once a rallying cry that Black Civil War troops carried with them across the battlefield.

On April 12, 1864, one of the most heinous episodes in American history occured.

General Nathan Bedford Forrest ordered the massacre of Black troops at Fort Pillow

Sharing this over here on BlueSky. It's been spiritually heavy days for me as a 2head. But someone asked about what we can do spiritually for those who have transitioned due to domestic violence.

Here's what my spirits said I can share publically: #blacksky

This area is home to the Port Royal Experiment. This is where the concept of 40 Acres and a Mule was born. A vast swath of enslaved people lived here, and where freed people stayed.

The Gullah Geechee culture thrived in this area for well over a century

Now they're being pushed out

Speaking of emancipation and reparations, a New York Times story came out today about the fastest growing county in the country.

Jasper County, South Carolina.

In the year 2000, over half the population was Black and one of the poorest in the state.

Now it's less than a third Black

@lyszflo.bsky.social & I were talking 'bout the heightened violence against women currently, especially Black women.

We know we can't talk in depth but let's just say there is a huge strain on Jupiter in Cancer & it's showing. Does anyone see anything else concerning in the transits about this?
