Reflecting on our zoo day yesterday, zoo cup notwithstanding, there is some power in recognizing that (if you have disposable $) rather than packing food to save money or buying overpriced zoo food, you can instead stop by the Italian bakery on the way & eat delicious pastry in front of an okapi.
He just wordlessly hands her his cup so now she has two.
Got my first $2 slushy today and it tasted like sweet victory.
4/ I have so many very specific memories in that house. Not a lot had changed, it was kind of emotional. But it was great to hear how the people we sold it to basically grew old in that house, how much they loved it. And ultimately the memories are about the people, not the building.
3/ I had a vague idea that Mr Sparrow and I could buy it if it went on sale. My parents couldn't afford it, but we could. But it just doesn't make sense, it's a couple of years too early for us.
But I still got to go to the open house today.
2/ Unfortunately, we moved overseas. My grandmother lived there for a few years, but the area grew much more expensive and eventually they couldn't afford the property taxes, so they sold it. The house just went up for sale again this week.
1/ Going to get kinda sappy for a moment: when I was a baby, my parents bought and lovingly restored/extended a Victorian house. They poured a lot of time and effort into it because they thought they'd raise their kids there and live there forever.
I recently learned that Real Thomas Adult Fans hate All Engines Go for some reason (probably just because it's not what they had as kids, idk).
I personally find Classic Thomas a little unsettling, but this morning my son requested that instead of AEG so I guess he's an annoying train bro now.
Lest anyone think I'm lying, he'd really prefer one of the Cars sequels, but I told him that was off the table for Mom-Son Friday movie.
Okay he didn't last that long but complaining he'd rather watch Singin in the Rain is a bit "steak too juicy, lobster too buttery"
No one move I've convinced my son to watch Into the Spiderverse we're a couple of minutes in and he's still not asking to turn it off.
Ben Solo, Ben Kenobi? Idk.
Got a text from an unknown number in a group text: "Where are we playing this week"
Had the immediate teenage desire to reply "your ass" on the assumption it was a scam, but it's a good thing I didn't because now I'm pretty sure it's my aunt's friend (aunt and I have the same name).
Reylo AU.

Got crawfish for lunch today, wore the gloves, but somehow my entire body still feels like it's covered with a thin oily layer of crawfish-and-Vietnamese-basil garlic-butter film. Worth it.
Luckily most pdfs I'm remediating don't have 180 endnotes
Godspeed. Let's just say I thought this part in particular would be much faster.
The endnotes have multi paragraph block quotes. Who the fuck hurt you that you must lash out at humanity in this way.
I'm working on pdf accessibility remediation for an academic journal, and it's led me to believe that any academic who has 18 pages of endnotes for a 25 page paper deserves the death penalty.
This is a real concern because I only have one class and a few days of extra studio time to trim, because I was focused on throwing. I don't regret that, but also a bit worried I'm going to be twiddling my thumbs next Sat when everything is still too wet.
Had a nightmare last night that I arrived at my pottery class and my pieces were not "leather hard".
This was great thank you ♥️
He was like "I brought snacks to share!"
Every time Pope Leo says something cool, I'm like "you know I went to a Catholic school and did my first communion and confirmation" like it means I personally met him.
(Not actually Catholic, long story.)
(I know the Catholic church still mostly sucks.)
Mr Sparrow, watching our child shotgun chocolate chips from the bag he somehow got ahold of: he's become ungovernable :/
Me: let's just govern him tomorrow
It's been a long weekend, okay? He offered us chocolate chips before getting started so at least he's considerate.
democracy can be a powerful weapon if you use it the right way, not everything has to be paid in blood, we don’t live in that world anymore we have other choices
Seems like an okay moment to remind people that if you want to give directly to a particular person in Gaza gazagivingcart.org will let you just buy a bag of flour or a mattress or kids’ shoes, take the phone number of the person you want to give it to, and put the stuff in their hands.
