likewise, you can't make loyalty lord/vassal or warrior or whatever cute. the dominance element is potent. the abnegation of the self is erotic, but it isn't wholesome.

Loyalty trope kink should have something foul to it. If someone is acting like a guard/attack dog there should be a sinking feeling of alienation or dread. It's your duty to make it hot but making it cute is a crime.
i’m so happy people are finally talking about how evil cozy d&d style fantasy is where every character is a milquetoast liberal who is fine enough with queers and women and people of color to never be #problematic but there’s a monarchy, essentialist race, and subhuman invaders that need killing
I shall read more, to have more themes for overdramatic art. Here goes one for #silmarillion , last stand of Maedhros and Maglor againts Valar forces :3

Florence Welch is def an inspiration for both her speaking and singing voice!
Can't find any songs I like that are true contralto but Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez is one that has been floating around in my brain for a min. For her speaking voice I think she sounds like Sade (I'll see if I can find any good interviews/clips of her talking) in terms of range + depth
rubbing my hands together like an evil fly >:))))
thinking.. nienna design …
her father-name is kánomiriel, she has a twin sister (who is still unnamed 😔), her mother is killed in the 1st kinslaying, she gets all of those freckles from her mama, she is an archer in the gap before maglor exiles her and her sister (lmk if you want more of these or if you want me to elaborate)
ty, going for big vague details to start: she is half-telerin, she is a minstrel like her father but she prefers playing instruments to singing, but when she sings she's a contralto (aka almost a tenor, she has a relatively deep voice),she shares a decent chunk of her personality with maglor (1/?)
exactly...exactly

i am shamelessly taking things from judaism here but i think dwarves, like elves, encourage heterosexual marriage but they conceive of a marriage as essentially a contract that is entered into by a man and woman under certain terms and one that like any contract be can be dissolved by the parties in the right conditions which is not easily reconciled with a more LaCE consistent marriage concept where a marriage is actually a literal supernatural binding of souls and is unbreakable because of that. sort of legal relationship with religious implications (dwarf marriage) versus mystical entity (elf marriage). in terms of sex, i think dwarves also think sex should be within marriage but they have the view that marital sex and specifically marital pleasure for its own sake even without respect to procreation is divine and a religious observance of sorts and so you have a sex/marriage concept that is in many ways similarly conservative and yet still is not really congruent with how elves think of these issues
my inability to be concise enough for a post strikes again

Ink drawing featuring my interpretation of Arwen Evenstar from Lord of the Rings. She is wearing a really cool dress and looking out at the viewer in seeming surprise. There is a star hanging over her head- otherwise, the background is black.
Arwen ⭐
there’s a 1970s essay by an early feminist art historian where she says that when people smugly ask “well, why have there been no great women artists?” the feminist urge is to pull out rare examples of woman painters and argue that they should be included in the canon of great art but that this actually obscures the fact that women often were not artists because systemic factors kept them from those opportunities and so pulling out the rare exceptions is sort of a denial of the reality of patriarchy and i think representation can be a similar denial where the urge merely to have [blank] included with all other context both within the work and about its making collapsed produces very poor analysis
Just remembered this app exists. Hi everyone
Keeping up my ‘remembering to post art here’ streak, here is some Elrond and Celebrían cheek kissing, ie me practicing a semi realistic style! #silmarillion #silmart #elrond #celrond #lotr
