Behold our beautiful and brave colleague, murdered today! You know the drill, unfortunately, so…

Say his name: Mohammed Wishah, Al Jazeera reporter, killed today in Gaza.

US-Israel has assassinated nearly 300 journalists in Palestine, Lebanon and Iran in just 2 years.

The Real Story Behind the Midnight Immigration Raid on a Chicago Apartment Building The Trump administration has claimed the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua had taken over the building. But new documents make no mention of the gang and reveal federal agents had information about “ille...

DHS repeatedly said that an aggressive apartment raid in Chicago last fall was prompted by intel on a gang takeover.

Documents show the real story behind the raid was to target alleged squatters — with the landlord's blessing.

The Ghosts of Al-Shifa Hospital Months into a supposed ceasefire in Gaza, doctors still have to smuggle in basic medical supplies—and treat new casualties of war.

I’ve been a journalist for 27 years. I’ve reported major stories about mass surveillance, torture, war, the military-industrial complex, police black sites, etc.

But this is the most important story I’ve ever had the horror/honor to work on. For it is a story about the current phase of a genocide.

The triumph of congestion pricing also offers a larger reminder: Government, done right, has immense power to improve people’s lives. Many Americans have grown cynical of government, and they are right to be disappointed about its frequent failure to deliver results in the 21st century. But the answer cannot be allowing the private market and pursuit of profits to dominate American life. Leaders should instead take political risks, as officials in New York did, to create programs that can deliver tangible results.

That congestion pricing is working -- like, really really working! -- is important for the larger effort to restore faith in govt. Take big swings, get big results that people can actually feel. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/27/o...

Virginia Is Poised to Ban ICE Contracts, Unless the Feds Agree to Obey the Law. No One Expects Them to. A bill passed by lawmakers would not outright bar local contracts with ICE. But they could continue only if ICE accepts due process rules and state courts having power over its officers.

With ICE’s 287(g) program, “every single civilian interaction with police can turn into an opportunity to try to enforce federal civil immigration law, and that blurs the line between federal authority and local public safety efforts,” says a Virginia advocate.

Our results are nuanced and both validate fears of existing low-income communities, while also showing benefits of new supply. I'll reiterate we support supply reforms, HOWEVER we are wary of when market supply is pitched AGAINST affordable housing and tenant protections when it's both/and (10/end)

Some children in Dilley were so distraught they cut themselves or talked about suicide, parents told ProPublica.

Inside ICE’s Only Contract with a Blue State - Bolts As part of a 287(g) contract between state officials and ICE, Massachusetts continues to release prisoners into deportation—even as state lawmakers look to ban other forms of ICE collaboration.

Massachusetts has spent months delaying & denying @boltsmag.org’s public records requests on how many people it has transferred ICE during Trump as part of its formal contract with ICE.

A supervisor of records ruled last week that the state’s denials are improper; we hope to get records soon.

Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.
