Well done, Virginia!
Hey, all... I'm calling an audible tonight and playing Magic with my brothers instead of streaming. It's been a long day, and I just need to chill. Anyway, here's my new song...

Pushing stream to tomorrow night, since kids' bedtime took longer than expected. Might fuck around and drop another track on Bandcamp tomorrow, too.

SAMPLE SATURDAY, for all those who celebrate. This is called "Don't Go".
I feel like I'm starting to figure out my vocal chain, and that makes me feel like I'm definitely missing something...
I was working on a mix and couldn't figure out why it sounded crowded. I spent an hour tweaking EQs, compressors, and anything I could think of. Finally, on a whim, I turned off an EQ on the Master bus. The mix immediately breathed. Sometimes it's what you don't do that matters.
I'm starting something new, and I really hope it catches on. I call it "Sample Saturday", where I share a little piece of something I'm working on. To kick it off, here's a song I'm demoing with the working title "Come Back".
I'm back to not knowing what to talk about on social media.
I'm on Dad duty tonight, so no stream. I'm thinking about doing some performance soon, so stay tuned for that. Also, songs INCOMING!!!
I took the day off last Friday because this year I didn't feel like working on the anniversary of the day my Dad passed. I wrote a song instead.
I'm in love with mid-side processing.
So I'm doing this Bandcamp thing and would love to have you follow me for new releases! (I'm also trying to get used to promoting, so bear with me!) Here's the link:

One of the hardest parts of this music thing, for me, is social media. I never know what to say to seem interesting, and always figure nobody really wants to read my rantings. But then I have an awesome interaction and come back for more.
So what's everybody up to today?
Trying to get better at promoting my music, so here goes:
Check me out on Bandcamp!

I know I might be a little late to the game, but I LOVE Bandcamp.
Musicians! As we stare fascism in the face, it's more important than ever that we use our art to bring attention to what's going on.
Fellow musicians of the Internet, I need advice! I feel like I'm spreading myself thin on social media. Which platform(s) have you had the most success building a community on?
Just me doing stupid shit with microphones...
I'm not sure if any other audio engineers do this, but I have a notebook that I write descriptions of the effects I have available to me. Not technical, more vibe. That way I can refer back to it when I'm looking for just the right feel for a track.
I'm pretty excited. I've got three pieces of music that I'm going to be submitting to sync libraries. They're pretty simple, but I think they're pretty solid. Wish me luck!
I hate that we live in a timeline where I have to ask myself if what I'm seeing is real or AI generated.
I'm freaking out because I just released a song on Bandcamp. The song is called "Ask Ourselves", and it's literally the first set of lyrics I've ever written. It's a song about what's been going on in cities across the country, most notably Minneapolis, MN.

They don't have to be expensive (the most expensive I own is $150) to be useful. Learn about microphone placement, angle, frequency response, proximity effect, and all that. Understanding those concepts has helped me get the best possible sound out of my guitar amp modeling plugins.
