I'm so incredibly honored that "Beloved Marrow" was named as a finalist for @sundresspub.bsky.social' 2025 Open Reading Period. It's definitely one of those "just proud to be nominated" moments and is a huge sign of validation of my work from a publisher that I hold in extremely high regard. 🥳🥳🥳

I'm delighted to finally be able to share my latest poem, "Apricity," in the 2025 issue of @poetrysouth.bsky.social. I'm honored to be among such excellent poets. This is from my second book, "Beloved Marrow." As we're now officially in winter, I hope this warms you as you read it. ❄️❤️

Why Bari Weiss held a '60 Minutes' story The CBS News editor said a report on El Salvador’s mega-prison failed to meet editorial standards. The correspondent behind it called the decision political.

All of Bari Weiss' notes on the CECOT piece are on the order of "We spend a lot of time on the people that O.J. Simpson killed. This implies there are other people he didn't kill. We need to flesh that out." www.deseret.com/politics/202...

it may feel a little like homework, but i genuinely think people should read the lincoln-douglas debates to see what the practical politics of anti-slavery looked like in an environment where the public was neutral to hostile to the question of emancipation

Amid the dumpster fire that is the world right now, it was lovely to wake up to this acceptance from @poetrysouth.bsky.social. 🥳❤️

So Hegseth’s missiles were fired at a boat:

✅ they had no idea where it was going
✅ they had no idea who was on it
✅ they had no established authority to act
✅ but definitely wanted to murder whoever was on it

Everyone involved should rot in prison forever

Trump Claims the Power to Summarily Kill Suspected Drug Smugglers

@jamellebouie.net - I feel like this didn't work out so well in "Clear and Present Danger," am I remembering that right?

An American Lost in America The disorientation of a rapidly changing homeland

Maybe this was never the place I thought it was. That image is likely just the selective memory or the idealized version as filtered through a younger, more naive, less aware, more optimistic version of myself. Still, the sense of loss is the same.

If you don't already, watch Colbert. He is a man with no more f*cks left to give. And it's glorious.

From New York Times “"To the extent that protests or acts of violence directly inhibit the execution of the laws, they constitute a form of rebellion against the authority of the government of the United States," Mr. Trump wrote in an executive order, which is not a law but rather a memo to the executive branch. Yet the closest this nation has come to such a definition of rebellion was when Mr.
Trump's own supporters (whom he incited, then mostly pardoned) sacked the U.S.
Capitol in 2021.”

I will never tire of saying that Republicans in the Senate had the chance in 2021 to prevent this man from ever becoming president again, and they chose not to do so. We’re in the future they created.

As @maggiesmithpoet.bsky.social says, "The world is at least fifty percent terrible, and that's a conservative estimate," but I have some joyous news: My second book of poems, "Beloved Marrow," is now done, and it'll hopefully find a good home soon (poets, am all ears on your favorite presses!).

Oh.

"This is about whether we have functional constitutional government in this country. If the IRS can go after you because of what you think or what you believe or what you do, we'd no longer live in a free country.“

9/ The tariffs are DESIGNED to create economic hardship. Why? So that Trump has a straight face rationale for releasing them, business by business or industry by industry.

As he adjusts or grants relief, it’s a win-win: the economy improves and dissent disappears.

Gotta love this ridiculous attempt to put a gloss of rationality on Trump’s tariffs.

i honestly have never seen a political leader so thoroughly destroy their credibility so quickly and, on the other side, it is abundantly clear that if anyone can claim a genuine leadership of large parts of the democratic party, it is AOC.
