Uber, Trip Radar, and driving towards an automated future Driverless cars are already learning their way on London's streets, but for the people still behind the wheel, having Uber's algorithm for a boss is presenting infuriating challenges.

I spoke to Farah Musa, Uber driver of 11 years and organiser for the @adcunion.bsky.social ADCU to find out how AI is reshaping his day’s work. Trip Radar isn’t making it easy, and that’s before we get to driverless cars…

Here's what it's like for a young reporter “at the forefront of a new era in journalism”.

You are likely aware that the national minimum wage goes up today💵

But what if you were working on a remote farm having traveled from Uzbekistan for the first time?

A very satisfying edit. I also don’t know the height of the London Eye, but then again, I don’t make the rules 🤷‍♀️

e.g. This woman's story via the @workrights.bsky.social is a truly eye-opening insight into what the government's own immigration advisers call the 'inherent imbalance of power' involved in many sponsored visas.

This was a heartbreaking interview. Zinhle told me how she begged her partner for an abortion so she could return to work, but he wouldn't let her.

How can the government wash its hands of Zinhle and her tiny baby, having done nothing wrong but be unfortunate enough to trust the wrong people?

I'm looking to speak to an AI-assisted reporter for a story/ project. If this is you or you know someone suitable, please get in touch!

Being interviewed by a journalist is a strange experience - a power dynamic I would recommend every reporter experience for themselves.
Journo pals - please share✨

Reform UK’s ICE-style deportation plan condemned as ‘sadistic’ Zia Yusuf sets out proposals and calls migration an ‘invasion’, as rights groups decry ‘grotesque’ measures

Reform pushes far-right rhetoric, Reform positions itself as the solution to far-right rhetoric (and on and on and on)

Did they learn this tactic in their private schools' debating societies?

Today, Reform put forward a host of policies that would damage UK families & communities.

While their plan for a UK version of ICE is the most shocking, the plan to end ILR could be catastrophic. Thank you @hollybancroft.bsky.social for comprehensive coverage

This is entirely correct.

It is *also* true of Labour's earned settlement proposals -which while not as extreme/overtly racist as Reform's, would still have precisely this effect for hundreds of thousands of people

Not too late for government to change course

Announcing the shortlist for the 2026 Tenacious Journalist Awards PINF's Deputy Director, Joe Mitchell, announces the shortlist for the Tenacious Award and introduces this year's judging panel with the unenviable job of deciding the winners.

How exciting! 🤞 And to be in such fantastic company!

I applied to the Tenacious Journalist Awards with a pitch for an investigation into Amazon, AI and union busting.

We need to know more about what’s going on in those warehouses and data centres.

1. These changes will force refugees - people fleeing war, torture, persecution - into a state of permanent precarity for two decades. It is very difficult for people with time-limited leave to secure good work, as most employers look for certainty. Shutting refugees out of good work only... (1/X)

What makes me so sad is that the policy keep emphasising how generous the UK asylum system is (which tbc is not actually true). But my sadness is that - they have seen this "generosity" and gone "none of that please, we need to be UNgenerous."

Who does that? Who decides to be a miser?

The cognitive dissonance between headline ("restore public trust") and 17th paragraph ("The BBC regularly comes out top in UK media trust rankings") is quite something.

This speech from Rachel Reeves is kind of frustrating because it shows that the Government can command the airwaves when it wants

That's something it has almost totally failed to do so far - over challenging racism, boosting the laws it has passed, tackling Reform, rebutting Tory ILR plans, etc etc

Nigel Farage Says Minimum Wage Should Be Cut for Young People The Reform leader said cutting the minimum wage for young people would boost business, as he attacked plans to raise taxes on the wealthy

Has Farage forgotten that 16 and 17 year olds will be able to vote in the next election? Else he’s written off the Reform youth vote regardless

The Sun Newspaper Wages War Against Gambling Taxes – While Holding Huge Betting Stakes Itself Rupert Murdoch's paper recruits Nigel Farage, Conservative and Labour backbenchers for ‘Save Our Bets’ campaign – while holding lucrative betting partnerships worth millions

The Sun's 'Save Our Bet' stories and editorials have almost entirely failed to mention that the paper is itself a gambling company – making millions of pounds a year from its Sun Vegas and Sun Bingo arms, and therefore stands to lose out financially by any so-called ‘sin taxes’ on the sector
