I came up with a conceptual idea of how a full art pixel Carryon could look like from elestrals. (There are some mistakes in here, so I realize it is not perfect, hence just being a concept lol)

Nosepass and its trainer venture into new lands, guided by Nosepass' natural intuition for cardinal directions. The background has mountains and a sunset lighting their way. The trainer holds and looks at the map in its hands while Nosepass is joyfully walking a direction (probably north).

Wanted to share a piece I did for a pixel art jam. The theme was "Exploration". Decided to make a Nosepass guiding someone since it always points north :3

The background consists of two apartment buildings with some having lights on, a light post, a sidewalk, and a hazy greyish orange-ish sky. Yeah lol, sometimes dithering can feel that way using it in moderation is def best. Since my pieces are so small I use a lot more dithering to show a texture more than shading in general (but still do use it for that as well)

Which technically is a sign of your skills, but dithering usage in of itself doesnt make your skills good or bad is what I mean lol

Idk if these are the exact words you need to hear, but coming from someone who uses a lot of dithering it isnt a sign of your skills as a pixel artist, its a sign of your style changing and evolving into your own :)

Dithering also naturally looks more rough and grungy while none can make a piece look smooth and more comforting, so it's up to the artists what they decide to do. Lots of really popular pixel artists go either way some use lots of dithering, some dont use any.

I think it really depends on what you wanna do with your artstyle because both work well. Dithering works best imo in smaller resolutions and less colors. I can tell here that the one on the right has a lot more colors in the palette and its also a larger piece pixelwise. They both look really nice!
