The more significant question is: which highly talented candidates are missed by using GPA as an early filter, rather than as one among several factors in a holistic evaluation of applicants for admission?

You are objectively wrong regardless of your misplaced confidence in it
Nope.
IDGAF.
You and the rest KNEW what you were doing. You CHOSE to ignore the mountains of red flags. You all DOUBLED DOWN on your hatred and only changed your tune when it impacted YOU.
You don’t get to apologize after opening the damn. The damage is done. Sorry is so fucking late.

A tough swim workout has never loosened my back before. But it just might this time.

I have confirmation the SAVE Act died because Senate Republicans knew it would disenfranchise their own voters at much higher rates than Democrats. I wasn’t going crazy.
Drove back from Tallahassee last night and it pretty much smelled like one the whole way.
Still Smokey for my commute. It smells like a bonfire in my car... 🫤
Don't be shy to take on a little two-week side project. These five months will be the most precious three years of your academic journey.
Investigators spoke with several dozen witnesses and uncovered evidence that Ms. Chavez-DeRemer and her staff abused federal spending limits on personal trips, several people familiar with the investigation said, including on fancy hotels, S.U.V. rentals and meals. Four people have left or been forced out of their jobs in connection with the investigation.
Trump appointees must be so puzzled when they're called out for looting and pillaging

Can you imagine the anxiety and frustration for scientists waiting for months to years for outcomes of things that could affect their work and careers?
I know those affected will be waiting until hell freezes over for apologies from current NIH_leadership™.
At least they "cured" DEI.

This is so infuriating. The #1 thing that would help ESIs would be to increase the number of awards. MYF dramatically cuts awards, and it cuts a year of funding. Plus, how is spending more upfront helpful? Hire 10 postdocs for just 1 year instead of 2 over 5? Horseshit indeed.
This country does not care about its children, or any children.
Breaking: HHS’s ban on gender-affirming care is struck down. Rarely have I read a ruling this sharply worded.
“This case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader’s wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.”

Lyons, whose family remained in Massachusetts while he worked in Washington, D.C., said he had always intended to return home before the end of President Trump’s second term and didn’t plan to stay as long as he did. He will step down at the end of May. His son will be a high school senior next year, and Lyons said he promised not to miss any football or baseball games. “It’s time to get back home,” he said. “I’ve really always put family first.”
It's nice that after spending so many years destroying families at ICE, Todd Lyons gets to focus on his family

2. The RIF/new hire firing cases. One reason NIH and NSF aren’t getting grant money out is due to mass firings that were on all accounts illegal. But the Roberts Court signed off on the shadow docket.
A district judge recently said he wanted to order re-hires, but it was too late. That was SCOTUS.
As we read this about the Roberts Court let’s remember the shadow docket grievously harmed American scientific research, cancer cures, and public health over the past year.
For ex, KBJ’s “Calvinball” quote was in an NIH case. More, short 🧵 1/
To any that knew Ellen in the #DevBio community- you know she was so thoughtful and always willing to help. She cared about all of us and dedicated herself to improving the future of science and our community. She will be sorely missed. Sending my condolences to all that loved her.💔
Emergency #UMich meeting to respond to yet another scandal:
Our male chair: "Have we had any leaders who have caused embarrassment to our institution who have been women?"
All the others in this meeting (all women): "NOPE"
I'm very sorry to tell you that Dr. Ellen LeMosy passed away after a short illness this past Thursday.
This is her sister. Ellen will be sorely missed.
I'm so sad to hear this. Ellen was such a fantastic voice for improving the scientific community, and I had just been messaging with her about ways to rebuild training programs earlier this year. She will be missed so deeply.
"Pissed-off women started this. Pissed-off women are why he is where he is today."
Mr Patel has already threatened to sue. Speaking as someone who has been through the Atlantic fact-checking process on issues far, far less important… best of luck to you, sir.
its not that extreme to tax people's second homes over $5 Million dollars so that normal people can have functional government services. Don't let these ghouls fool you.
