A viral dog rescue from 2016 is now immortalized with a statue in Kazakhstan. When a dog fell into the Sayran reservoir, bystanders formed a human chain to pull him to safety. The statue is a reminder of the value of unity, solidarity and collective action. 14/10 for all

Honest question about psychology: When Trump calls on other nations to help clean up the mess he made in the Strait of Hormuz, mere months after insulting the same nations' veterans by saying they stayed behind front lines, does he really not understand how that makes him, and the US, look?

I meant about 'people can negotiate that with their employer'. You've swayed me with the medical argument—research since my SAD diagnosis has apparently changed consensus—but I doubt enough workers are in so strong a negotiating position for you to dismiss that concern. Many parents I know aren't.

You haven't answered my question.

Why do you say DST 'forces' people to shift their schedules, when you also say people who like it can always 'negotiate' with employers? Seems like a contradiction. Can't _you_ just negotiate starting and finishing work an hour earlier in the summer, if the time change bothers you so much?

I think I know what you mean. Sometimes, when they try, I'll tell them that I'm not feeling appreciated or heard, and then the situation changes.

I recently watched a very old official BART build documentary, too.

Have a great flight, and next time you stop through ORD, let me know. I'm there a lot.

And not just the soccer. World Pride in Sydney was one of the most spectacular and joyous events I've ever been to. It's so sad that the following one was in Washington, DC, under the current regime. I steered clear of it, but from everything I've heard, it was poorly attended and disappointing.

After speaking to hundreds of whistleblowers, it's clear our laws are failing them Since launching Australia's first dedicated whistleblower legal service in 2023, we’ve heard from hundreds of whistleblowers wanting to speak up about corruption, corporate misconduct, human rights ab...

Every whistleblower I've ever spoken to believed (correctly) they were doing their public duty, bc others failed.
None wanted to become a "whistleblower".
Yet they're punished by systems designed to destroy them.
Labor promised to protect them but have only tormented them with inaction & gaslighting

I can't say I've been in barber shops I've loved the smell in, but I'll take any of them over the Phillip Island penguins' smell. The penguins are cuter, though.

Maybe it wasn't in the US media, but it was all over my media for months and giving me nightmares. But it's been sharing the stage with some of the world's other trouble spots more recently, like Iran and the US.

Interesting. I'm just starting to mull through it. Can you say anything about who's behind it?

I've noticed that about Gaza too, at least in US media.

That's exactly what I think the government should've done, here in Australia, instead of the blanket social media ban for under-16s. I'm not convinced social media does more harm than cutting kids off from their support groups.

Pretty well, thanks… I'm down in the penguin hemisphere for the summer, and while it definitely has its share of concerns, it's still a relief.

Absolutely. I mean, Cuomo got stripped of his governorship for way less than we all know Trump routinely continues to do.

I just muddled through the face-recognition thing. I don't think it liked that my ears don't line up, but I think it eventually realised I really am a middle-aged human.

Remarkable how that's turned out thus far, isn't it. 🤔

A new #poll shows #Trump is now setting records as the #worst but let’s talk why he can’t go lower YouTube video by Ohh that's RICH

I also agree with this take: his polls are as low as can ever really be expected. No need to convince his remaining supporters; they're a waste of time, who don't care about the country's wellbeing, nor even their own. It's like supporting a sportsball team to them.

@jeshyr.bsky.social: My BlueSky feed was being dominated by only one or two people, so I created a list called 'less noisy friends'. I thought you'd appreciate the very first post that appeared on it. 🙂 (And g'day @joedecker.bsky.social; lovely to see you here.)

I'd still prefer those goons not be bullshat into thinking they have blanket immunity. While I certainly hope for the eventual satisfaction of seeing Jonathan Ross and his cowardly accomplices behind bars, I'd rather ICE thugs on the streets today think twice before taking more violent power trips.

My wheel has an airbag an a lot of buttons… I've put on a nice cover but I haven't worked out how to get the rest to match.

Meanwhile a snowball fight with Police in Utrecht. The cognitive dissonance right now in my head is surreal.
