I think the ability is to base one's judgement on the correct cues. If intelligent people know or use the cute better, they should better at judging themselves and others. We should Test this. And also consider biases in both self and other perception
Sure, but the logic underlying the DK claim is that If you are intelligent you have an easier time spotting intelligence. I can See no reason why this logic should only apply to self judgements. But typical alternative explanations Like Regression to the mean don't apply here
Thanks, Glad you Like it! It also Shows that you nees a Lot of Stimuli in Order to get reliable assessments
This aligns with the general Dunning–Kruger argument that being intelligent facilitates the detection of intelligence.
New paper out:
Some people are systematically better at judging others’ intelligence.
Who are the best judges? People WHO are intelligent themselves, have good emotion-perception ability, and who are high in well-being.

My guess would be that narcissits respond aggressively to criticism not because they have a fragile ego, but because being aggressive seems like an appropriate reaction to them - given their values, world view, et cetera. Fits with the self-view of a tough, dominant guy. Just my two cents though.
Yeah, we assessed narcissism using self-reports. As does >95 of reseach in the social-personality field. Using such measures, people still find that narcissists easily get aggressive when criticized. But our work indicates that this might not be because their fragile ego is shaken.
Do narcissists show stronger physiological responses when put under social stress? This study indicates no: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/... Speaks against the idea that narcissism is a compensation of a weak, or fragile, self
