Yellow spotted salamander friend in my wood shed this evening.

The wood frogs call. The fog rolls through, percussed by tentative spring peeping. The spotted salamander, regent of the woodshed pending orb weavers' return, asks me why I still care. Peep peep. "It is a struggle," I admit. "For you," I say after a pause. "And them," I nod towards the boys' rooms.
