What neurodivergent people really think about the words used to describe them Research reveals a clear preference for how neurodivergent adults want to be described, though not everyone agrees.

“We recommend listening to neurodivergent people to find out about their preferences and using the words that they prefer, instead of solely being led by traditions which have developed without the input of the communities we are referring to.”

this is one are where restaurants could step in and create accomodations for people with disabilities (like mine or otherwise). there are various ways they could make accomodations. it need not be all restaurants either, but having some for people like me (or others) would be nice.

man, i have lived a sheltered life.

(this is actually kinda true, restaurants are not good environments for me with my sensory sentivities and information overwhelm and social/relational difficulties, so i tend to avoid them, and it sucks because they’re where the food is at.)

Democrats did not step back. We fought back. When they go low, we hit back hard.

We won Prop 50 in California, reclaimed a seat in Utah, pushed back extremists in Ohio and halted toxic GOP efforts in Indiana, New Hampshire, Nebraska and Kansas.

Tonight, thanks to the relentless work of Virginia Democrats, led by Governor Abigail Spanberger, Speaker Don Scott, State Majority Leader Scott Surovell and President Pro Tempore L. Louise Lucas, “YES” won and Donald Trump lost. Virginians spoke with a crystal-clear voice, voting to stop the MAGA power grab and protect the integrity of free and fair elections.

This war is not over. Next week, Ron DeSantis is hauling the Florida legislature back into a special session to redraw maps because Republicans know they are on the verge of an epic defeat in November. DeSantis is clearly more interested in illegal gerrymandering than lowering the high cost of living or fixing our broken healthcare system. Right now, nearly 5 million Floridians are facing higher premiums because Republicans failed to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits.

If Florida Republicans proceed with this illegal scheme, they will only create more prime pick-up opportunities for Democrats, just as they did with Trump’s dummymander in Texas. We will aggressively target for defeat Mario Díaz-Balart, Maria Elvira Salazar, Carlos Giménez, Kat Cammack, Anna Paulina Luna, Laurel Lee, Cory Mills and Brian Mast. We are prepared to take them all on, and we are prepared to win.

Maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time.”

he writes as a christian. he lost his wife and kids in a car accident due to a drunk driver. not every griever has wisdom, but sittser’s voice is a voice worth listening to, imo (i don’t believe i agreed with everything he said as a fellow sufferer, but so much of what he says is helpful).

since i’m talking about books, jerry sittser’s “a grace disguised: how the soul grows through loss” is probably the best book i’ve read on grief.

i’ve read a decent number of books on grief, suffering (not a phd number of books, but maybe a bachelor’s number).

i grew up reading popular level theology, i realized far too late how shallow and misleading (even when unintentional) so much of it can be. really disappointed it took me so long to realize, i kinda blame my autism—difficulty in transitioning—but i also was not made aware by anyone.

5. “four views on moving beyond the bible” by multiple authors (walter kaiser, dan doriani, kevin vanhoozer, william webb are the main discoursers, with analysis by a few others). really interesting, but haven’t done much reading on hermeneutics, so i don’t know what to think about it.

4. i’ve also been reading “the vagina bible.” it’s been interesting, kinda gross in some areas, tbh. have not been able to find a penis bible yet. when i searched for those terms i got books about increasing size and a book on small ones (we live in a broken world).

2. “new atlantis” by francis bacon. pretty interesting, but also quite a bit of prejudice unfortunately. bacon’s idea of a worldy utopia.

3. “can we still believe the bible” by craig blomberg. an evangelical scholar. i thought it was pretty well argued, but i’ve not read much apologia.

i’ve been able to read recently, possibly b/c i’ve tried to cut down on social media, and spent more time trying to do nothing, but i’ve recently read:

1. “white nights” by dostoevsky. pretty good. i liked it. bout a girl and a guy and another guy.

A tweet from Representative Thomas Massie that reads:

I just viewed 2 Top Secret FISA docs.
1) FISA Court opinion that raises serious concerns about FBI implementation of FISA 702.
2) letter by Senator Wyden describing a secret government interpretation of FISA law.
The Constitution requires I vote No on FISA 702 reauthorization.

I sent a classified letter to House and Senate colleagues about a secret interpretation of surveillance law that every American should be concerned about.

Representative Massie is right. The Constitution requires EVERY member to vote against a clean reauthorization.
