Jay Bhattacharya is trying to destroy the future of US science.

And, my condolences as well.
The task of de-Trumpification of science and public health will take a generation and a "Marshall Plan" to rebuild. Without a bold, expansive vision to guide us, there is no coming back. Small-bore, poll-tested versions of the future will not help us. www.thenation.com/article/soci...
You can’t mention a cat and not share a picture!
Thanks for sharing, that was cool.
Apparently he took from the answer 42 that it is more important to ask questions than find answers. What
I suspect that his poetry would be much, much worse.
Elon Musk apparently loves the Hitchhiker’s trilogy (😹) and I just put it to a total lack of reading comprehension
Listen to how Jay Bhattacharya sidesteps his responsibility to protect the health of the American people.
Have you ever seen a cow? Been in a barn? Milked a cow? In your mind’s eye, visit that cow, and take a moment to notice all the poop around. Do you want to eat that poop? No? Then don’t drink raw milk. And don’t feed poop to your children and pets.
yeah, the glorification of bullying. I know it's more complicated...
I’ve been wondering how much lead has to do with this.
This whole issue is extra annoying to me because I grew up in a non fluoridated place (New Jersey) and my dental bills are significant.
Oh, great to hear. The articles I read made it sound more democratic. I read that the fluoridation would have required upgrades so it was decided to not do them/stop.
But lead is a known risk that affects mostly poorer kids. It isn't a SECret gOVernMEnt CoNSPIracy that is prioritized by RFK Jr.//MAHA. It's just a risk that RFK Jr. could do something about, if he wanted children to be healthy.
You know what isn't great at any dose? Lead. What is RFK Jr. doing about lead poisoning and abatement? (not much, if anything). Over 500k children in the US have blood levels that are considered too high (above 3.5 μg/dL) though the correct amount should be ZERO.
RFK Jr./MAHA puts the responsibility for health on individuals-- that they should brush more-- and flattens risks. Yes, fluoride at high doses is not great, but lots of things at high doses -- vit A, iron, even water-- aren't great. At the doses we see in fluoridated water, fluoride is beneficial!
Children in places that don't fluoridate get more cavities, those without private dentists can wait for months in pain until community clinics have room, and it is a major reason for general anesthesia for kids. Calgary stopped fluoridation, it was a major failure, and they voted to bring it back.
HHS can do A LOT more to prevent suffering— thanks for having me on to talk about measles and other diseases we are not preparing for.
What is there to agree on? That we need to move away from mRNA research so we will be sitting ducks if H5N1 starts spreading? Or that DEI has killed science, rather than not enough diversity? Or that he went to cpac, which is highly unusual for an NIH or CDC director. Or …
The last time I tried to engage with Jay Bhattacharya in dialogue I ended up on administrative leave. 🤷♀️
I feel very badly for the NAS staff who have to work on this Vichy antiscience farce.
RFK Jr. blames death on individuals & comorbidities they can’t control. There are other ways to promote nutrition and healthy choices without embracing a widely discredited/inaccurate theory. Also— infectious diseases do not necessarily care about the previous health of the host. See:HIV/AIDS
Yes. It’s called terrain theory. It’s basically soft eugenics.
shrouded figure on CBS
CBS News has a bombshell interview with a U.S. soldier who survived the deadly attack in Kuwait on the first day of the way -- he says Pete Hegseth is lying about the attack and that the base "was unprepared to provide any defense for itself." www.cbsnews.com/news/iran-wa...
Painting of DA Henderson
Sitting here and wondering what DA would make of it all.
As it is decidedly uncivil to accuse people of starting a pandemic that killed 20 million people without any evidence to support the allegation, here are five compelling reasons why SARS-CoV-2 came from Nature.

Indiana university, same.
Every story has a quote left on the cutting room floor.
For this one, it's this:
Me: The U.S. has sequenced 1000 measles genomes from our outbreak.
Virologist @eddieholmes.bsky.social: "This is 2026! There shouldn't be 1000 measles genomes. That's disastrous."

Since I'm getting a questions about the new data - a few _preliminary_ comments:
1️⃣ Are the outbreaks in the US connected?
👉 Very likely.
2️⃣ Does this mean US will lose elimination status?
👉 Yes, but that's been clear for a while.
