I always liked this detail about how these flats covered in holiday chalk drawings.

I have a podcast premiering on March 12 about the historic closing of Phantom of the Opera, as told by one of its longest-running cast members. Let me know if you're in NY for the premiere so I can send you an invite!
We were very impressed with the audio production on this one, especially the bleeps and bloops. Hey, sometimes those ornamentations really make a piece!
Mark Angly is a sonic storyteller and educator who loves science-fiction, so the "TMI" prompt naturally prodded him to questions about the post-human condition.
This is just a lovely piece about transitioning and how friendships endure and grow in the process. Always impressive when teams can find the 'right-size' idea for a sub-two-minute entry.

Please enjoy finalist "Hugging Like A Girl" by Tin Can Audio (Amber Devereux, Ella Watts, Ross McFarlane)
This team did a wonderful job of portraying what it is like to be overwhelmed by internal and environmental factors without making the piece itself overwhelming. Screaming children sound kinda good here!
Vivien wearing a dark sweater, looking serious in front of a mostly white wall
Laura smiling in a colorful computer window
VIvien is a Brooklyn-based German audio producer who makes fantastic work about human communication and the search for identity. Laura is a journalist with heavy podcasting experience. She is a senior producer at Radio Ambulante studios!
There's a lot going on in the world right now, right? Take a listen to “Overload" by Laura Rojas Aponte, Joe Tisdall, and Vivien Schütz

Julie bravely put an actual Hinge date on the spot to record her Sonic Dash entry, likely ruining her chances with him but making it to the finals with us!
A question we frequently get at the Biannual Sonic Dash: will I have time to fall in love while recording my submission? Julie Censullo tries to have it all with "Maybe This is the Day that My Life Changes"
Our friends at Audio Spice are featuring some of our finalists in their next listening event! RSVP here:
Pay attention to the rhythmic weave between the subject's inner thoughts and field recording. These two say they don't have much experience with audio editing, but both happen to be musicians and writers. This served them well, I think!

Phoebe Mulder smiling and sitting at a picnic table near the woods
Phoebe Mulder is a junior at Wesleyan, majoring in American Studies and Writing. Audrey Nelson is a freelance audio journalist based out of Seattle
Henry (the sound designer of the three) happened to be at the beach during the dash. He contrasted what he recorded there with sounds he picked up while wandering around his house with a contact microphone… air purifier, trash compactor, sodamaker, to name a few. Neat!
