Being corrected by you so brutally is going on my CV.

Also, I will continue to teach my medical students and residents that "nauseous means to make others nauseated."

@bcdreyer.social Are you surprised that Dan Brown (nor his editor) doesn't know that this should be "nauseated" rather than "nauseous?"

My biggest problem with this study from the start was that symptomatic stone passage was the primary outcome instead of stone burden. Stone passage, while obviously important to patients, is a rather arbitrary event and doesn't correlate with disease severity/stone risk.

Yes, but no more idiotic than "pre-heat the oven." You're heating the oven.

I'm super proud of this work detailing the results of genetic testing in hundreds of kidney stone formers. We identified genetic causes for stones in 34% of those tested (47% if < 16 y.o.). So thankful for such great collaborators & patients! journals.lww.com/cjasn/fullte... #nephrology #mayoclinic

Actually, horseshoe kidney is not usually a problem. We monitor a few things, but rarely clinically significant.

I love it when I realize I hit send on an email in which I type-o'd "my" to "me" and I sound Cockney, e.g. "Let me discuss it with me team."

He's "enchanted" by science the way a toddler is "enchanted" by bubbles. Except he's also angry at the bubbles because he can't understand how they float and are so round.

Hot take: Academics are just an isoform of social media influencer. Publications are clicks and citations are likes. H-index = clout.

I have a pediatric patient who refers to her serum phosphorus as "serum preposterous" so that's what I'm calling it from now on.

You know why I love a hepatectomy?

It always de-livers!

I just made that up and am amused with myself. But also appropriately disappointed.

Update on ALA treatment for cystinuria reveals we have a long way to go before nephrologists will be satisfied with evidence that it is effective and safe. Also, no one has supplied a viable mechanism of action. #rock2015

"Let's take a walk through the nephron and focus on calcium" is how kidney stone nephrologists say, "I love you."

In Raiders of the Lost Ark, the infamous snake pit full of "asps" is really full of boa constrictors, Burmese pythons, and maybe a reticulated python. At least they threw in one cobra! (But also, what the heck were those snakes eating and drinking in that pit over the centuries???)
