Over the last few years, American tech oligarchs have become the greatest argument against their own existence.

The sheer scale of their erratic behavior and political interference proves that extreme wealth concentration is a structural threat to society

It looks like the war on Iran is going about as poorly as the regime’s previous wars against Chicago, Minnesota and Los Angeles.

This is *nothing* dignified about wearing a cheap baseball cap that promotes yourself to the otherwise solemn ceremony to receive the bodies of the troops you had killed to distract from your bad economy and rampant pedophilia.

MASSIE: “Iran is not Venezuela. The Ayatollah was not a president. He was a religious leader… 🇺🇸 & 🇮🇱 turned him into a martyr, expended billions, 6 🇺🇸 families must now lay to rest their sons & daughters. And for what? This administration can't even give us a straight answer.”

The boycott of OpenAI(ChatGPT) has now surpassed 4 million. We’re also seeing many small businesses (and even some mid-sized companies) cancel their subscriptions. One of the most amazing things over the past year has been watching consumers remind big corporations just how much power they have.

So far the war in Iran has cost an estimated $5.5 billion.

That's roughly $1 billion per day.

$41,666,667 per hour.

$11,574 per second.

People do not want this.

They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

That process is fraught, as well. If there are small errors, like a missing signature, or the vote is cast in the wrong jurisdiction, it can be rejected. I mean, still try to cast one by all means but…there’s a reason they’re called place-votes (rhymes with, “placebos”).

This is why red states have higher voter apathy. Always shenanigans.

I feel bad for these folks just trying to exercise their constitutional right to vote and having to deal with this mess.

The Epstein class is making money off this war. The other 99% of Americans are getting screwed out of basically everything.

my most common self criticism when writing, especially after reading really good prose, is God i am not smart enough to be doing this. but you can't listen to that. you have to keep writing your dumbass little story. you have to

It’s so wild that one of the reasons BlueSky is dissed so much is because there are smart people here who write and read books and then they have the gall to talk about what they know from writing and reading books. How dare you.

when people point back at Reconstruction to explain where we are as a country (a good impulse) its often to claim that Reconstruction completely failed

I'd say it's more like: Reconstruction was partial and compromised, which kept the Civil War going as a domestic political battle vs a won war

You can encourage people to become more civically involved without downplaying the importance of voting.

Voting is just one part of it... but it is an important part.

So is being active in your community and speaking up for the causes that you believe in.

Both matter greatly.

They always have trillions of dollars for illegal wars in the Mideast, but SCOFF in your face and clutch their pearls when you ask for universal healthcare. You are all being played.
