So… is there anyone out there who does pass life regressions for people who are dying?

I liked both very much, but I am guiding you to the Austrian as in hills are alive, song. It’s called Who the hell is Edgar?

Yes. That is what I am saying. And. Commiserations.

I’m saying singling out Eurovision is ironic since they actually put an effort in to forwarding other things. The rest of the music industry is way more Anglocentric. And to that end it functions that way because musicians choose to do it for money. So capitalism is the source of that.

I can imagine that maybe they feel like English is very forwarded at Eurovision and I do not disagree, however it is simply incorrect that people are not allowed to not sing in a English. Many many songs have been performed there that were not in English. Céline Dion won with a French song 1980s

This year in Liverpool was a revelation. It was truly wonderful. I would encourage you to check out the Austrian entry.

This year, I would estimate that between a third and a half of the songs were not in English… notable examples: Czechia, Slovenia, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Armenia, Finland all sang in their own languages.

I am happy for people to be unabashedly fans of whatever music they want. I, for one, love Eurovision.

I think we would be remiss if we attribute anglocentrism as a central force in Eurovision. It is an industry problem. People can reach a larger market in English and so they do it. Really it is capitalism that does this.

There are many every year. Not sure I understand the comment. The Italians basically never ever sing in English, for instance.

Eurovision is a delight. And besides. You made Abba famous. At a certain point you have to acknowledge your camp roots as a modern nation.

If you compete in Eurovision, what else are we to think?

We could talk about how so many people who insist that “sunlight is the best disinfectant” for bigotry—by which they mean that bigotry should be allowed to expose itself, and thus be shunned by a public that won’t tolerate bigotry—also seem to insist that every instance of a bigot getting publicly shunned after exposing their bigotry represents a very dangerous trend for free speech, while simultaneously never seeming to object to any of the actual attacks on freedom—of speech, of movement, of bodily autonomy—that are happening across the country. At a certain point, it seems to me that we have to conclude that what such people are actually advocating for is not to use sunlight to expose and disinfect our society of bigotry, but simply to have a society in which bigotry is free to dance in the sun.

Early this year, I wrote this paragraph about the phenomenon of the marketplace of ideas and the hateful defeated ideas that enjoy a perpetual indestructible listing on it in the name of freedom (and yes I'm aware of the irony that it's on Substack):

That was a very ill-conceived post. The order of the day where people say really silly things for engagement is making the discussion into toilets, lowest common denominator. The only way to balance is to personally do better.

Is melted ice cream soup if I eat it from a bowl? What about cereal? What about cereal with melted ice cream instead of milk?
