I recently discovered @annacalvi.bsky.social (late to the party again) after hearing her collaboration with Iggy Pop on her new EP.

I got her self-titled debut album, the follow up One Breath, and Hunted and have been and enjoying them on repeat.

Is it just me, or does changing terminals at Paris CDG more awkward and time consuming than other large airports? I know, classic #FirstWorldProblems stuff.

A jar of sauerkrat. I finely chopped a cabbage (900g), massaged it with a little salt to draw out the water. Added a teaspoon of caraway seeds and a few juniper berries.

That should be ready in a few days, but we'll leave it for three or four weeks to let the flavour develop.

This morning's project, another batch of sauerkraut. Just a fairly standard recipe this time.

One the joys of being retired is having a bit of time to do things like this.

Israel has become a perpetual, warmongering, genocidal state yet pursues deadly its ambitions with impunity. They have ignored the ceasefire and any resumption of warfare is on Netanyahu.

Iran accepts ceasefire after Trump says it will pause bombing for two weeks Pakistan's PM had asked Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks, and Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Praise God! Praying the ceasefire will hold and it can be the beginning of peace, not just a pause in the violence

I've have just finished this while on Lindisfarne for a few days.

Moffat packs his book with historical & topographical facts, but also with a lot of speculation.

His journey to learn about & from St Cuthbert gives him peace, but doesn't shake his frequently stated lack of faith.

Rocks and seaweed and sand wet from rain & the sea. St Cuthbert's Isle is a small tidal island just off Lindisfarne. When he was Abbott in the 7th century, St Cuthbert retreated here for more solitude away from the monastery.

Good Friday. Grey skies, rain. We walked to St Cuthbert's Isle at Lindisfarne.

In the last three tournaments (France 98, England 2020 & Germany 2024) Scotland have managed draw and two defeats. We've only ever won four games in tournament finals (Zaire, Netherlands, New Zealand & Sweden). I hope I'm wrong, but I see another flop coming.

I don't think this Scotland team will do any better than their predecessors at the World Cup this summer.

They won their group without playing brilliantly and failed to create a clear goal scoring chance in 180 minutes against Japan and Ivory Coast.

Broken English, a documentary about singer, songwriter, actor Marianne Faithfull and named after her landmark 1979 album, is excellent. Very different way from other films about musicians with a Tilda Swinton and George Mackay in a fictional ministry delving into the archives.

After watching the Peaky Blinders film, it must be a rule to play some Nick Cave.

I've put his superb 2024 album Wild God on the turntable, such a great record.

The Peaky Blinders film is entertaining enough with gangster violence, Gypsy mystical wisdom, family politics, loyalty and betrayal ... and just enough to make you wonder about what might have been going on at the time that has been erased from the record.

Now for some Nick Cave
