He and his faction has blinkers on. Also they rather burn things around them because they refuse to accept that the political sphere has changed. Politics has fragmented and they lost their coalition with their hubris.

After winning narrowly in Runcorn last year, this time around Reform tasted the bitter wine of narrow defeat.
Greens got 41% of the vote #BBC, Reform got 29%. I wouldn’t call that a narrow defeat.
Great news to wake up to see the Greens won the by-election and even more happy that the tories lost their deposit. Also a very harsh reality bites lesson to Labour that aping Reform lite policies and driving out their left is their deathwish. Just hope they wake up in time.

Book rec! I just read Traitor Son by Melissa J. Cave. Slow burn, marriage of convenience with a gruff grumpy Knight general and innocent illegitimate princess. Its like Julie Garwood historical had a baby with The Witcher.
