Found myself googling 'dog food for dogs' just now :(
I am so grateful for this particularly insightful and beautifully written review of CRAWL—This is one of the most thorough appreciations of the book as a whole/its overarching ambitions I’ve read yet.
If you decide to read CRAWL, for TRR now or in the future, THANK YOU!! Please consider posting if you feel so moved. All I’ve ever cared about is this book finding its readers. I’ll do basically whatever to make that happen.
Hey #transrightsreadathon people… Here’s what I got for you:
1. Short stories, every MC is transmasc
2. Litfic
3. Funny? (I used to be a stand up)
4. NOT feel good/It Gets Better coded (proceed with caution!)
My book came out in October, so this is my first time trying to promote during TRR 😇😎
Thank you for reading—I couldn’t agree more!!!!
Holy hell…. This is the critical engagement of my DREAMS!!!!! Thank you @runtalien.bsky.social and @whoevenreads.bsky.social for this incredibly incisive and vulnerable essay about my story “All Time Low” in CRAWL and, what else, straight girls 🫠 This is just the stuff of dreams for me. Thank you.
An image of 9 books on a bed I’mFrom left to right, top to bottom, they are: Crawl by Max Delsohn, Love Letter to a Garden by Debbie Millman, Ballot by Anjali Enjeti, The Pinch spring 2025 issue, Every Happiness by Reena Shah, The Intellectual Situation: the best of n+1’s second decade, The Shy Assassin by Clara Uson, Edge of the World: An Anthology of Queer Travel Writing edited by Alden Jones, and Graphic Rage by Aubrey Hirsch
I took almost no photos at AWP because I was too busy, but I got some great books, and I saw some amazing friends/writers, and it helped erase some of the bad memories of my last AWP in 2020. I hope those of you who went had a good rime, and if I missed you, I hope to see you in Chicago next year 💗
And Crawl by Max Delsohn is a hilarious, charming, and insightful debut short story collection. It filled an untapped niche in time/place of trans realist fiction with 2010s Seattle; I appreciated the break from NYC!

Author @maxdelsohn.bsky.social’s first-ever published book, Crawl, a series of short stories about transmasc life in Seattle in the 2010s, is the most delightful—and sometimes also devastating—thing we’ve read this year.

One of my favorite conversations about CRAWL, no question. Topics include the himboification of trans men, my “scribe problem” theory of MFA programs, a quick dunk on the downtown scene, Robyn, Lorrie Moore, and Chase Strangio :-)
