Looking forward to joining this panel and discussing information integrity and how you can tackle health #misinformation on a budget... 🤔
With the help of the Sandy Hook families, The Onion has reached a long-awaited deal to take over InfoWars.
We've enlisted the help of @timheidecker.bsky.social, who will be InfoWars' Creative Director.
Please stand by for more.
I’ve written, with my colleague @davehillonlondon.bsky.social , what is basically a short book about the London borough elections. Want to know the recent history, the key wards, the local parties? It’s here londondecides.lowickhedry.com
An oil painting of a moonlit path through grassy Cornish fields down to the sea. Yes please.
Tonight's goodnight image is 'Gate to The Moonlit Valley, West Penwith', Sarah Vivian, oil on canvas. Sweet dreams.
Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage. A woman answers the door. We have come for the child, says the hooded figure So soon? she asks It is time, says the hooded figure. The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card! What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading! For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman, the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them. Do not cry mother. I am a writer now.

We cannot ignore the link between online disinformation and offline harm.
The outrage economy is eating away at the basic bonds of trust that hold our societies together. I spoke at the Cambridge Disinformation Summit to address how social media spreads hate and fuels violence.
Sounds like you've already got the title for a sequel!

Wouldn't you like to know...
Don't hide your light from the world.
Use it to draw lost travelers deeper into the forest and towards your cozy den made of twigs and wildflowers, where you can devour them at your leisure.
I noticed the UK government's estimate of CO2 from future AI data centres was implausibly low.
I asked for the methodology underpinning the analysis, but got nowhere.
When I wrote an article about it they just... deleted the analysis.
Now, @adamvaughan.bsky.social has covered this for the Times.

Some fascinating findings in this @reutersinstitute.bsky.social report on how young people get their news.
Was particularly struck by how popular reading (still) is.
One for @oispooky.bsky.social
The godless eldritch horror screeches his ululating call to the rain slicked gun metal sky. A million windows shatter. His batting eyes down helicopters. The uhf hum of his bow tie empties stomachs for a mile.
Quatermass weeps, then, throat hoarse, issues the command.
‘Blobby blobby blobby’
Actually made me LOL 😂
I found this extract interesting. The relationship between happiness and feeling safe. (And by implication how you could undermine institutions by making people feel unsafe.)
