The "safety" fencing at the new Hyde St path is going well 🙄
I've copied these pics from someone who ride there today.

Part 1 of Melbourne's Greenline linear park opened today!

More of a revamp of Birrarung Marr than a new park. It nicely creates new public spaces using boardwalks that directly overlook the river, separate from the thoroughfare. The green part is a work in progress as most plants are still young.

In preparation for new low floor trams, the State Government is proposing to replace non-accessible tram stops on route 57 with... new bigger non-accessible tram stops.😲😕😠

Route 57 North Melbourne tram corridor We want your feedback on planned tram stop changes along the North Melbourne corridor.

New 57 tram engagement proposing changes to accommodate G class trams. Includes some consolidated tram stops but lacks tram platforms for some reason. Bonus protected bike lanes proposed for Victoria and Queensberry Streets.

Actually, the $3 million allocated to "Greenways" is likely to be the most impactful money, since I believe these are intended to be shared paths.

2 million with a big bike logo in the Boroondara 2025-26 budget looks promising until you realise that it's 90% just regular footpath repairs.

The separate $104,564 for "Bicycle Strategy Implementation" is more exciting but sadly not a lot of money.

There were in fact some decent arguments supporting resident parking. This mostly illustrated non-bike-related issues such as the safety of walking on the street, the usability of the multistory social housing parking, and the lack of short term car parking especially for drop-offs.

Well, retention of the Richmond Elizabeth Street bike lanes lost the vote, meaning that they will be reduced from 2m and 2.3m to 1.5m and 1.7m. It seems unlikely that two people will be able to ride abreast or overtake now.

No other Yarra councillors knew about this amendment. And the public had no prior knowledge. Zero transparency and accountability by Stephen Jolly

Council decides on new way forward for Kew Library’s redevelopment | Kew Library redevelopment The existing Kew Library building will stay. Read on to find out more.

This is compelling data, but the histogram is a bit confusing. I guess small positive and negative numbers got binned into the same 0 bucket?

Also do you have data for other building sizes in order to illustrate this sweet spot?

Dramatic decision from the new Boroondara council to not replace the Kew library.

Arguments against the demolition: community sentiment towards the existing building, its good structural integrity, the >$20 million price tag and its larger size than the proposed building

GreenLines A data scientist’s musings on transport and urban planning

Here's my report on Boroondara's first kerb-protected bike lane in Kew: greenlines.quarto.pub/posts/willsm....

No it's not perfect, but I'm excited about Boroondara's baby steps.
