Uh-oh. Do we need a new version of @magnets.eurosky.social’s brilliant observation about how climate change will manifest?
In a surreal twist, people are now doubting footage that is both very real and very close to home—a result of AI imagery poisoning the waters:

We cannot let anyone destroy the ranges, there are so many species that depend on it, so many people who give their time for free to protect it and so many Kiwis and tourists who have benefited from it. Paradise is not for sale, please sign! #nzpol
I just feel like we all deserve something nice, like a new government, one that is actually good, and not so very mean and bad and awful
Frankly I'm so tired of the constant dismissal of how sexism plays a role in harassment of creators
Yes everyone deals with online harassment no one says that's not true, but when a person is fem they notably get much more vitriolic/demeaning comments that are 100000% because of their gender
After France, Denmark is moving too: its Digitalisation Ministry plans to phase out Microsoft, switching to Linux and LibreOffice in the coming months. The goal is clear—reduce dependence on a handful of global tech giants and strengthen digital sovereignty.
“Tailings dams are a toxic time bomb that pose one of the greatest risks to their surrounding environment and the people who depend on that environment for their livelihoods.”
Beautiful sunrise with a palm tree in foreground , sky tower in background with an orange pinky sky
What a sunrise today
Cars and vans bobbing in flood water in an Edwardian suburban street.
"Climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones with footage that gets closer and closer to where you live until you're the one filming it"
Or till the background is the street you grew up in. Hits home.
In today’s NZ Herald
Billions for landlords, big tobacco, local gas explorers and LNG imports.
#nzpol Great 🧵
Hey look the UK is doing that thing that NZ was doing but then the Minister responsible led the repeal of the legislation and enacted several pro tobacco policies based on a document that appeared on her desk

I don’t think I’ll ever get over just how cruel some people are. To preside over something like this…
We struck that with WfF. The system treats welfare to businesses as deserved and the unemployed and those on low incomes as thieves in my experience as a previous recipient of WfF and a businesswomen.
Just listened to Winston being platformed on RNZ - it was not an interview. It treated him as if he was a venerable political elder with reasoned listenable to opinions and not the uncivil transphobic bigoted bully he is. It was unbelievable and shameful.
Nor me, they’re never great but I volunteered in a food bank last time National were in and went along with some people to WINZ, petty cruel tyrants would be a polite way of describing some of the staff. 6 minutes late because your kid needed the loo, appointment voided sanctions applied.
You know what’s not a good look, RNZ pandering to a ‘kiss my arse or I won’t talk to you politician” by not discussing the bigotry and racism pouring out of his Party (NZF) that’s emboldened threatening and frightening behaviour towards the NZers of Indian descent and newer Indian immigrants. #nzpol
My god, KiwiSaver withdrawals are not income. They are not taxed as income. They are savings. Someone needs to take MSD to task on this one.
Yes and no given this Government’s pretence that there are jobs and all beneficiaries are bottom feeders.
Cartoon. Title: “Levels” Image shows PM Christopher Luxon in the foreground, hugging a petrol drum, with his eyeball to the spout, and petrol fumes coming up around his face. Finance Minister Nicola Willis is in the background, her hands clamped to her face, exclaiming, “OMG, Christopher! Huffing the fumes! This is next level!” PM Luxon is saying, “Sniff! No, Nicola, It’s still Level One, and I’m feeling VERY relaxed about it…’
Between the fuel crisis and the leadership vote PM Christopher Luxon has been doing some deep breathing.

I really sympathise for this family. Mum really needs a ramp to walk into the house as the steps are becoming more & more dangerous for her to manage but I can pretty well guarantee I’ll get knocked back asking for this because she’s not in a wheelchair yet. This government hates the disabled #nzpol

The media should not desist from pressing the PM on whether his colleagues continue to have confidence in him — whether he likes it or not.
