Today's jellyfish is the Narcomedusae :) They're not particularly rare but are very important for the mediterranean ecosystem, and have a very unique appearance. They're also hermaphroditic! <3

tl;dr i think people are biased to believe that autistic people are just fundamentally incompetent at everything in life and social situations so they either look down on you and dismiss you or if they see you're competent at some things but not others they take that as a personal issue

not to say that's worse than the other side of things when people don't see you as "respectable" which is just.... pity and treating you like something of a pet or a charity case. i've been both it's just something i've noticed

this is maybe gonna sound corny but it almost feels like when people see you as a "respectable" person in some regards (whether that be earned or unearned) and you struggle w social cues they see that as a much more personal/intentional thing than it is

sometimes people mischaracterize me in really convoluted ways and im kinda like im just really autistic man idrk what to tell you

the layer of being really autistic on top of this is interesting too because if people think you're desirable then they just think you're quirky and cool. if they don't find you attractive then they just think you're annoying and unlikeable

this isn't a brag but more of an acknowledgement that i fit a lot of the standards for what's considered physically desirable to the hegemon and it really is night and day how i get treated when i mask. from being given far more credit than i functionally deserve to ceasing to be a person at all
