Less is more: Bundle diffing comes to EAS Update.
Instead of downloading the full bundle on every update, devices now receive a binary patch of only what changed.
Result: ~75% smaller downloads.
♦ A 3MB update drops to ~0.75MB
♦ Opt-in beta, safe fallback to full bundles

Expo SDK 55 is out 😅

♦ MCP now queries EAS + TestFlight crashes

I have seen cases where an extra noop instruction had to be inserted in assembly code, to fix a timing issue… 😃
feels cruel for Bluesky to have a Popular With Friends tab, if any of us were popular with friends we wouldn't be on Bluesky
At 9:18, 3rd period of the Finland-Switzerland women's ice hockey QF game, the ice crew came to clean the ice during a pause
What follows is the funniest use of the slo-mo alternate angle tech I've seen them use during these Olympics of one of the crew members falling
Saw Super Bowl ad for new “Disclosure Day” movie and all I could hear was “Epstein Files Disclosure Day”
There is also the screen dimensions hook from React Native itself, as in this example github.com/react-native...
I’m not sure what that has to do with React Native… in any language it’s pretty easy to build a flow that takes you to a dead end with no return path (not that I’ve ever inadvertently done that 😃)
I love it… it has kept me gainfully employed for quite awhile now 🎉
The joys of being a developer 😀
My 14-year-old self would never have guessed that, in 50 years' time, all the world's music would be available at the click of a button, you'd navigate the globe by carrying a tiny computer around in your pocket, and the US President would post a video of himself shitting over American citizens.
Or compiling React Native itself, especially the Android artifacts 😃
It took a little longer than we wanted, but Ignite is upgraded to Expo SDK 54!

The replacement of URLSearchParams was done as part of the work to have a WinterCG-compliant fetch implementation. See github.com/expo/expo/pu... .
You’re doing great I’m only 0.1x
I tried to come up with something witty here, but really can’t improve on this quote 😃

We were overdue for a new home that tells the story of what Expo has become: Everything you need to build apps.
We added more pages to explain how Expo serves different stages of business growth across different industries. We'll 🧵 some of those below ↓
Low key one of my favourite React Native Skia Animations I've ever made
This is excellent and nuanced writing. "The same values that make us horrified at his violent death are the ones that should embolden our commitment to defeating the politics he worked for in life."
Have you heard the good news?

there's a lot of exciting things going on in SDK 54, but the less exciting changes will hopefully make your upgrade smoother and your everyday DX with dependencies more stable 💕
All kinds of reliability improvements land in SDK 54!
small thread about those 🧵
