what do we have here? a new circle bros lp! out april 27th, first track/preorder up now at www.morctapes.com/circlebros-w...
semi-improvised songs built from fractured melodies, hushed sounds and details that are hard to place. A gentle and focused record — something we can all use right now.

well, there sure is some gold to be found in the much discussed Aadam Jacobs Audio Archive. like, this live recording by Peter Jefferies with a very remarkable (and very good) version of 'On an unknown beach'.

- nice review of the latest lp by @pefkin.bsky.social is up at new folk sounds
www.newfolksounds.nl/pefkin-unfur...
(and the repress of the lp is in stock now!)
we also shared the last preview of the -now passed- morc labelnight in Dranouter (what great evening!)- so: some words about the already broadly discussed Edgar Wappenhalter. And talking about Luster-predecessors: we recenly got hooked on Loobke's only album. - as heard on campradio.bsky.social
but: did i say: 'new releases"? seems like 2026 kicked off, with new material by Eternal Music Society (feat Andreas of Kroppskännedom), Amarante-Cerisier and ru.is. it's fair to say Primitive motion is still pretty new as well. the old favorites this time: Shellac and Grouper, whom we're both playing for the first time here. no idea why that took 61 episodes.
the full tracklist: * Circle Bros - Uncorked (from the lp 'Wade', Morc records, 2026) * Edgar Wappenhalter - I travelled among unknown men (from the cdep 'split ep', Morc records, 2011) * Primitive motion - My Obsidian (from the 2cd 'Lost Frequencies', Discreet Music, 2025) * Loobke - Check-mate (from the dl 'Water & Boots', Sundays in spring, 2004) * Shellac - Didn't we deserve a look at you the way you really are (from the cd/lp 'Terraform', Touch&go, 1998) * Eternal Music Society - Plain (from the lp 'Eternal Music Society', Knotwilg Records, 2026) * Amarante-Cerisier - L'Oubli (from the lp 'Amarante-Cerisier', Okraina Records, 2026) * ru.is - A dream within a dream (from the dl 'A dream within a dream', self-released, 2026) * Grouper - A light change (from the tape/cd 'split with inca ore', Acuarela, 2007/2008)
Last week's episode of morcfm: morctapes.com/morcfm . A lot of new material this time. i specifically need to mention the opener: that's a track from the upcoming Circle Bros lp, which will be out later this month. hazy, gritty and slow: something we can all use every now and then.
that's @jessicabailiff.bsky.social and anneliesmonsere.bsky.social . together on stage for the first time in well over a decade. yes, it was marvellous.
Roxane Métayer
soccer Committee
Edgar Wappenhalter (Quartet!)
still recovering from last week's wonderful label night in Dranouter. lousy pics from a great event.
I've said it before: de algemene verwarring is my favorite radioshow. Who Else Starts with the kids, ends with Roy Montgomery and does a (flattering) morc special on the way?
Jessica Bailiff (right) and Annelies Monseré (left) preparing saturday's show in Dranouter
look! it's @jessicabailiff.bsky.social in Dranouter. come and see her first european show in over a decade: www.muziekcentrumdranouter.be/nl/concert/2...
good to know: there's a circle bros lp coming late april. more about that in a few weeks, but if you want to combine shipping for that one and the Pefkin lp: just reach out, we're happy to help.
(and more shipping news: the prices for sending parcels to the us actually went down quite a bit!)
Pefkin - unfurling lp
the Pefkin lp 'Unfurling' is back in stock. the album came out in january, and was sold out before we realised. there's an identical repress available now. hope you'll enjoy this masterpiece as much as we do:

That's Gayle (pefkin) on stage with @lidders.bsky.social (ex-iditarod). didn't see that one coming!

the rest of the episode goes from lofi (the glorious new Rudy Trouvé album, Aijo, The fullmars, Sandra Bell) to acapella folk (Landless), some more abstract songs (arv & miljö, Idea Fire Company, Germ Lattice). and we're ending with one of the finest tracks from the latest pefkin lp, which is nearly out of stock here.

thé rarity of this show: a 'live in the rehearsel space' recording of soccer Committee , performing 'Hazy" in 2021. This turned out to be wonderful. and, well, you can hear her at the label night in dranouter centrum in April.
We Ran out of luster lp's and kroppskännedom lp's. And we're pretty low on eg the recent pefkin, soccer committee 's ❤️/lamb and iditarod's kleine. You can get the last handful of copies via morctapes.bandcamp.com/merch or morctapes.com/store (always the best option).
Thanks!
Wonderful review of pefkin's latest lp here
if you love photos of parcels, doors, floors, hallways and hands, recieving a 'proof of delivery' from a parcel sent to the uk is a source of joy.
great to see @pefkin.bsky.social in this great list
i'm sending out the preorders of the @pefkin.bsky.social lp on wednesday. if you'd like to be among the first to get a copy: please head over to www.morctapes.com/pefkin-unfur...
--> "a powerful and deeply absorbing work in its slow, deliberate intensity"
the first review of @pefkin.bsky.social 's upcoming LP "unfurling" is in via The Abstract Observer, and not that surprising, is very positive.
read it via www.the-abstract-observer.com/observation-...
i must admit: now i'm pretty curious to hear your collaboration with Ali, and see what your label 'Small fishing' is up to.
the morc-week thusfar:
- monday: announcement of the most recent episode of morc-fm
- tuesday: announcing the labelnight at muziekcentrum dranouter on 4/4
- wednesday: starting preorders for the new pefkin lp.
that's it for this week, really.

Her previous albums for Morc include The Pale Horse (2016), Celestial Gorse (2018), and The Unquiet Grave (2020). Brogan also runs the Small Fishing label and has contributed to compilations focused on experimental and folk forms.'
if you like AI-hallucinations, you'll love this published 'announcement' of the upcoming @pefkin.bsky.social lp. there's hardly any correct info here, except: new album coming out late january. i'm not linking to the hallucination, but: here's some correct info: www.morctapes.com/pefkin-unfur...
official release date for the lp is friday jan 30th - preorder is available now. the lp is yours for 20 euro + shipping. and yes, this album is also part of the ongoing '3 for 50 euro' deal. a selection of great distro's will have this one in stock as well. of course, this one is up on bandcamp too
The familiar Pefkin elements are present: melodies that unfold patiently and graciously, with textures so vivid they feel almost tangible. Across six tracks, around forty minutes in total, the album is more focused than ever, with instruments and sounds flowing seamlessly into one another, leaving ample space for each melody to breathe. Pefkin creates her own microclimate, an environment both intimate and expansive.
new pefkin lp!
www.morctapes.com/pefkin-unfur...
this is her first lp she did since moving from Scotland to England - she didn't trade in her unique blend of folk and violin based drones though! official release date for the lp is friday jan 30th - preorder is available now.

But first, we start the episode with a new Roxane Métayer-track, from the great 2nd lp she put out in 2025. what a 'boerenjaar'. we can announce her as the first name for the morc-event at muziekcentrum dranouter on saturday april 4th. more details about that tomorrow!
You'll hear an exclusive Pefkin track - a Walkers Brothers cover intended for a Scott Walker tribute 7" that never materialised, which is worth listening to this episode alone for! she also picked arianne churchmann & benedict drew, whom you heard here a few times before, and Last Light, a new project of Dean of Little Skull. She also selected Sophia Djebel Rose, whom we'll see at our beloved The Pit's-club in february, and some unknown names that we need to dive deeper into. hope you'll do the same.
the most recent episode of morcfm is hosted by @pefkin.bsky.social - what a treat to have 'merveille du jour' back - listen via www.morctapes.com/morcfm
You'll even hear an exclusive Pefkin track - a Walkers Brothers cover intended for a Scott Walker tribute 7" that never materialised.
happy to bring back Gayle Brogans great radioshow 'Merveille du jour' - taking over most of morcfm tonight.
What a great, great lp: 'in perpetua' by miradasvacas. Slowly evolving sounds/melodies. On heavy rotation since June. Very, very much recommended.

it was a pretty busy year for a small organisation like ours. - We did three mighty fine lp releases: * first the debut lp of kroppskännedom - gritty, repetitive, rough and fragile. oh, how we love this album. (and you too: we did a repress, and that's nearly gone as well) * in the summer, we welcomed Eva Fernández Suárez & Thomas barrière in the family, with their Majestic 'Adela' album. traditional and adventurous, a real treat. * in fall, we welcomed soccer Committee back, with one of her most ambitious works yet: 'Eye'. sparse yet generous restricted songs. - two concert nights: * the summer started with Troth & Nein Rodere in Salvatore. a true celebrative evening * in the fall, Kroppskännedom came over to Belgium, and we matched him with Berlinde Deman for an evening of sounds to make your brain dance in all tempos and directions. - 13 episodes of morcfm. 167 songs by 154 artists, released on 118 labels. that's a lot to listen back to. - many plans for 2026 - including the already announced pefkin lp in january, and a biiiig event on sat april 4th and another lp around the same time. and more later. - and mostly: we worked with a busload of great people. all the artists of course. but also some organisations (three:four for co-releasing Adela, Lise for co-hosting Troth & Nein Rodere, Salvatore & Le Trisseur for hosting us, stad Gent for lending us material, Maanstand for getting Andreas overhere, print studio 868 for letting us use their studio, 4K masterint for making the albums sound great) and volunteers for helping morc out in many, many ways. (Jochen, Annelies).

morc 2025 recap: 3 lps, 2 concert evenings, 13 radio shows. a lot of plans, and many, many great encounters. details in the alt text per image :-)
of course: many thanks to you, for showing appreciation, being kind, and just being interested. it means a lot. thanks.
some nativity figurines on a table, the crib is empty and jesus is missing
the same figures, now with added jesus
Christmas disaster/miracle: the Henry Christmas spent two days in limbo as my parents searched high & low for a somewhat key nativity figure: the baby Jesus. turns out they’d just put the crib upside down… 🙃 which technically made it a satanic nativity i suppose. this is all genetic too, by the way
