Let's not normalize mass shootings.
Gun violence is preventable.
Gun violence is a public health problem.

Gun violence is a public health problem.
There are things we could be doing to prevent this violence. Will we ever actually talk about and implement solutions?
This is not ok. We are not ok.

@delauro.house.gov thank you!
Representative DeLauro spoke truth to power for those CDC staff on administrative leave. We appreciate her documenting this situation & holding this admin accountable. She reinforced that those staff & programs put on administrative leave worked on key public health issues.

CDC is lacking leadership. ~80% of top roles are vacated (resigned or forced out). Staff say work is at a “standstill” as key public health decisions stall.
~2,400 CDC staff have left or been illegally fired under RFK Jr. Morale has collapsed.

Thoughts on CDC Director Nomination.
The dismantling of public health and science have hurt the American public. Now we need a CDC leader who is dedicated to improving public health, & committed to building trust with CDC staff, America’s public health professionals, & the American people.

We need the Senate to fully vet Dr. Schwartz to ensure she will stand firmly against unethical or illegal requests.
CDC staff find it hard to trust a nominee from this Admin, no matter how qualified, especially after the year & half of trauma & turmoil sustained by CDC staff.

NPHC Statement Nomination of Dr Schwartz as CDC Director The CDC’s world-class workforce—not political leadership—has always been the backbone of public health in this country. Given the past year’s firings and deeply concerning ethical failures, this appointment must mark a return to scientific integrity and independence in public health leadership.
Thoughts on CDC Director Nomination.
The nomination of Dr. Schwartz, who has medical & public health experience & training, provides a small glimmer of hope that CDC staff may actually get a leader grounded in science.

RFK Jr couldn't answer a question about CDC staff morale.
Article states, "According to CDC Data Project,... directors of 20 out of 25 CDC centers have resigned or been forced from their jobs since Kennedy became health secretary."
How do you think morale is with this level of turnover?
Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), a vaccine preventable disease, is making a comeback. Hitting hardest among vulnerable adults facing housing instability, smoking, and substance use. 🏡 🚬
Progress isn't permanent. Let’s protect it.
Keep preventable diseases-prevented. 💉 💪
Yes! please!
At least we honest with our labels. 🤪
RUMOR! Rumor! Who doesn't like a good rumor?
Since Susan Monarez resigned as CDC Director, the administration has approached over 50 candidates about the CDC director job.
Rumor has it all 50 declined.
Not surprising.
Thanks for the shout out!

RFK Jr said 6 in 10 Medicare patients have chronic disease. Well DUH!
Someone want to tell him that’s because that population is aging and older? Therefore, statistically more likely to have chronic diseases.
