Govenor @mikiesherrill.bsky.social Thank you for your executive order, but there are a lot of issues with the HBLR that will take more than 45 days to resolve. 20-30 min off peak service is bad enough, but when trains are frequently taken out of service, that means riders have to wait 40 minutes.

Jersey City's existing 15% mandatory IZO downtown has been in place since 2021.
Affordable units built under it without a PILOT? Zero.
The new mayor ran on the promise to expand this IZO mandate to 20% and make it citywide.
Learn more about what IZOs are.

This is a great thread. Glad Hochul is pushing to change SEQRA.
Greenfield single family subdivisions are far more destructive to the environment than multi-family.
🚨🎉💪 We will have more to say soon, but this is a huge win for transportation and the environment. Our coalition's brief statement below 🌳🚶🛤️
I'm sorry but the Port Authority going over budget on all of their fun Newark Airport construction, is the reason we don't have a PATH extension to Newark Airport in the capital plan. They need to get more serious about moving large numbers of people efficiently. And this just isn't it.

Good news! While Jersey City needs to do more to regulate parking demand, it is encouraging to see the Council President take steps to expand permit parking zones to Communipaw near the light rail station.
Hopefully, one day soon, that parking lot is turned into dense, mixed-use, high-rise housing.
JC Birds Continues to Mislead Jersey City on Costs, Impact of Bird Ordinance
Ever since the bird-safe glass ordinance was introduced in 2025, Better Blocks has worked hard to make it a better, more targeted ordinance [Jersey City Times]. Our goal is to reduce bird strikes in high-risk areas…
Oregon's state senate just voted to ban unfunded inclusionary zoning, recognizing that it makes housing *less* affordable, not more affordable.
Ari Drennen @AriDrennen Follow The high trust neighborhoods that MAGA yearns for exist all over America, and they're all like D+40 nxthompson A @nxthompson •22h An extraordinary paragraph. buff.ly/uH5ykhX The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they're the ones who are alone. In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesivebecause of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority. Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about "Western civilization," while armed brutes try to tear it down by force.
This is so spot on
They’ve are, yet again, failing to seize this moment. If my relatives in GA who until recently voted republican have made ICE and Minneapolis their kitchen table issues, then they’re woefully behind even the more centrist voter.
This City's Housing Boom Is a Model for Mamdani
Since 2010, Jersey City has been building 4x as much housing as NYC.
The result? Rents stopped rising—and now they may be falling.

Matt Walsh tweeted last year: "We've spent the last 25 years bringing "freedom" and "democracy" to countries around the globe while our own country has been systematically invaded and now our largest cities are run by foreigners and communists. If you want to know why I'm so avowedly non-interventionist, this is why." Then he tweeted today: ""This is a war for oil!!!!!" First of all, the "war" lasted like 90 minutes. Second, going to war to secure vital resources for your own people is totally legitimate. Why should we allow some third world communist shithole to control trillions of dollars worth of oil?"
Laura Loomer tweeted last year: "I’m America First, I don’t support “Regime Change”. I went on @Bannons_WarRoom to talk about Chinese aggression in Venezuela and why we need to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign Islamic terrorist organization." Then she tweeted yesterday: "Maduro has arrived at the DEA office in Manhattan. He was transported in an armored motorcade after being transported in a blindfold via helicopter & then by plane to New York after his compound in Caracas was raided by US Special Forces. Proud to be an American today! USA 🇺🇸"
Catturd tweeted last year: "Name one U.S. inspired regime change that hasn’t ended in absolute disaster." Then he tweeted yesterday: "Venezuela is now more free than New York City."
Will Chamberlain tweeted last year: "The Republican Party is no longer the party of regime change and endless wars If you want to be its standard-bearer that is a non-negotiable position" Then he tweeted yesterday: "I can think of few better uses of my tax dollars than black-bagging the head of a foreign narco-trafficking organization that enriches itself by addicting and poisoning my fellow Americans"
amazing how the entire machine can pivot within 24 hours. no need to slowly upsell the argument; just issue new marching orders

When transportation urbanists go back home for the holidays and have to ride in a car for everything they do.
Legislators in Trenton should vote against the e-bike bill because it:
1) is a de facto ban on Citibike and other popular bike share programs in NJ;
2) puts the livelihoods of many restaurants at risk; and
3) makes low-cost transportation unaffordable and inaccessible.
State lawmakers are restricting access to safe & affordable mobility options while not actually solving any safety problems.
Add your name and tell Trenton to hit the brakes on this bad e-bike bill! actionnetwork.org/letters/save...

A few weeks ago, PATH announced a series of service expansions that will finally reverse this trend. Though paired with a rather steep fare increase, these changes will finally put weekend PATH service levels above where they were 25 years ago. Huge congrats to all the advicates who made this happen
This happened back in late summer too further up near Brunswick. Glad those Jersey barriers are there, but it’s just another reminder of how dangerous our streets are. You have to be going fast to push the barriers this far.
Celebrating this project is annoying, a shiny object. Instead they could have followed their capital plan to connect the PATH to the Airport, serving loads more travelers and employees. This would have improved a critical regional connection between the airport and Newark, Jersey City, and NYC.
Hey Ciudad Jersey, can you take a moment to fill out this survey about the city’s master transportation plan. If you could share this link to any of your family and friends in the city.

We did the math on Solomon’s affordable housing plan so you don’t have to.
Unfortunately, it provides very little affordability or housing for homeowners and renters alike and could raise property 22% by forcing the city to subsidize all new development.

Solomon's affordable housing plan basically abolishes by-right zoning in JC. Every single big building will be subject to a city council vote on a PILOT in order to make it financially viable. There will be shakedowns for more parking and scaling down plans, as well as opportunities for corruption.
